January 6, 2012

Good Afternoon,

Happy New Year!  We finished 2011 with a very good December - CVEP was named host organization for the Coachella Valley SBDC, CareFusion decided to stay in Palm Springs, keeping 300 jobs right here in the valley and we had our very first accelerator graduate.

We welcome 2012 and are optimistic about the year ahead.  Please see below for a highlight of what CVEP is doing this first week of the year.
First CVEP Accelerator Client Graduates
Tala Opening

This past Tuesday the valley had a reason to celebrate! Tala Enterprise opened their clothing line manufacturing warehouse in the Coachella Valley Enterprise Zone in Thousand Palms.  Already employing 30 people they hope to have a workforce of 400 within five years.  The company has previously manufactured their clothing line in China but now they are bringing the jobs right here.  Not only will Tala Enterprise's garments be "Made in America", they will be made right here in our valley.  To read more about this significant event, click here to read The Desert Sun article.

First Northwest-Coachella Valley Biz Connect

On January 25, CVEP will host a reception at the Rabobank Regional Business Center to give Northwest executives an opportunity to meet Coachella Valley business leaders and to develop a better understanding of the business opportunities in the Coachella Valley. Sue Preston, general partner of the California Clean Energy Angel Fund, will discuss investment opportunities and initiatives in the clean-tech sector. And Steve Weiss, who heads Coachella Valley Angel network, will share thoughts on investment opportunities.  This is the first of this type of gathering and one that CVEP hopes to become an annual event. For more information or to rsvp to this event please email RSVP@cvep.com
