Here is a glimpse of what is happening at CVEP.

Congratulations to CVEP Investor, Solar Millennium

Announced earlier this week in The Desert Sun, Solar Millennium, a CVEP Investor, has received a loan guarantee of $2.1 billion from the federal government, the largest financial commitment the Department of Energy has offered to a solar project.  The U.S. Energy Secretary was quoted "another sign that California is the center of solar."  The 1,000-megawatt Solar Millennium project is to be built on public land 60 miles east of Indio.  The article states this project could be a benchmark for future solar development.  Read article

CVEP Client - Thermal Motorsports gets Important Win

The much anticipated Thermal Motor Speedway got a green light this week when the Riverside County Planning Commission approved land-use modifications for the project, sending it to the board of supervisors for final approval, as reported in a recent article in The Desert Sun.  According to an economist referred to in the article the project is estimated to cost $70 million and has the potential to create 477 jobs.  CVEP leadership was present at the meeting to testify in support of the project.  Read article

California losing jobs to Texas

This week an article on Bloomberg.com reports on the status of California losing jobs to the state of Texas.  The California Lieutenant Governor, Gavin Newsom visited Texas this week and met with leaders to discuss how they created 165,000 jobs over the last three years while California lost over 1 million.  CVEP CEO Tom Flavin states "This is no surprise; Texas has been competing for jobs for years.  California needs to do the same."  Click here to read full article.
