CVEP News

Dear CVEP Investor,

Here is a glance into what happened at CVEP this week.

Small Business Resource Forum & Expo

We had a great turn out at yesterday's Resource Expo, thanks to all who participated making the event a success.  There were about 150 attendees including 30 exhibitors representing an array of companies including banks, law offices, accounting firms and insurance companies, among others.  The speaker panel included representatives from the SBA, USDA and the Coachella Valley Enterprise Zone.

This event was featured in media coverage by both KPSP Local 2 and The Desert Sun.  Our President/CEO Tom Flavin was interviewed on KPSP Local 2 the evening prior to the event for the Newsmaker segment titled Helping Small Business in the Valley.  There were also updates from the event posted on KPSP's website.

The Desert Sun also featured stories including announcing the sellout of our exhibit booths and featured a story in the business section of today's paper summarizing CVEP's support of and dedication to our local small businesses.  (Please click any of the links in this section to read or view that particular story).

Student FAFSA Night

FAFSA night was held throughout the valley this past Wednesday with high school seniors and their families attending the workshops.   The workshops were held to assist college going students and their families in completing the application which can determine their eligibility for federal student aid.   The money raised at the fundraiser, which CVEP held earlier this month, was to benefit the school whose students completed the greatest percentage of FAFSA applications.

This week's event included great community support via gift certificates to local area businesses frequented by college students.  Some of the participating business included Auntie Anne's Pretzels (who donated over 90 gift certificates for free pretzels), Juice it Up, Rubio's, Walmart, Ciro's, Dogo's, Yogurt Island, Salon International, Pueblo Viejo Grill and Record Ally.  Thanks for the community support and good luck to the students!

Cathedral City named one of 10 Bargain Places to Retire

This week U.S. News & World Report released a list of the 10 Bargain Places to Retire and Cathedral City was on that list.   The report details Cathedral City, "the city named for its majestic canyons is surrounded by golf courses and boasts year-round warm weather".   Cathedral City Mayor and former CVEP Chair in an interview with KPSP Local 2 said "this is great news" and is thrilled to be recognized as "The City of Value".

Thanks for reading and look for our newsletter next week!
Sincerely,

Tom Flavin
