Linda & Ron Braaten
CEDARBROOK MISSIONARY UPDATE

Linda and Ron Braaten are committed to caring for the needs in their area in Belize by connecting with their community in several ways (church, tutoring, Bible studies, pre-school, building homes and businesses) as they introduce the community to God and cultivate a Christian lifestyle in those who come to know Jesus as their personal Savior. Their guiding verse is Matthew 25:35. Churches, Christian schools, individuals, and families are invited to join them in their mission. Linda writes:
"Recently we had two teams from Matthews United Methodist Church in North Carolina. One team helped finish a room that is used for the church and they also did some work fixing up one of the businesses that was started a few years ago. Ms. Shena's bistro had a beautiful facelift! They were also able to help the Herrera's to open their little grocery shop.
"Three ladies from the same church came to help with the preschool. The kids were so delighted with all the crafts and special attention. The women in our church had been going through a five-week class on Sunday mornings. Even they got to do a craft, which was a special time for all of them. These volunteers, Barb, Sarah, and Karen, came at a perfect time. They arrived on the Thursday that our daughter, Sondra's little girl, Ayva Autumn, decided to make her entrance into the world. They were heaven-sent babysitters for me. I was able to spend all my time with Sondra and Ayva while they kept Irma and Elbia totally entertained. God is so good. He really is interested in every little detail of our lives.
"Two young people, Katie Williams and Tory Abrahamsen, came to work with us as well. They were both such a blessing as they pitched in and did whatever was necessary. In the beginning of April, we had an Easter break morning camp for the kids in the villages here. The Baxter family from Matthews Church helped us with this great camp. They were such a tremendous help and made our morning camp such a success. Thank you to all the teams and individuals that come down to help us in our ministry. We also thank Camp Cedarbrook for the encouragement you are to us personally." Contact the Braatens: ron@oasisministrybelize.com

 Love Camp? Tell Someone!
REFER-A-FRIEND DISCOUNTS
By referring a friend, you and your friend can earn credit toward your camper tuition fees. Because our best advertising is done by our current Cedarbrook families, the Refer-A-Friend program is our way of saying "thank you" for spreading the word. The more friends you refer using this program, the more credit you earn. You could even attend camp this summer for free!
How to Refer a Friend: 1. Give the promotional code REFCCA12 to friends and family who have never before sent a camper to a Camp Cedarbrook in the Adirondacks program. 2. Tell them to be sure to enter your full first and last name and the promotional code as the referring friend when they register their child for a summer camp session. 3. They save $50 and you save $50. Click here for complete program guidelines and conditions. LOOKING FOR TOOLS? Want to get the word out, but not sure where to start? - If you'd like some extra brochures to share with friends, just ask!
- Would you like for other families in your church, neighborhood, or co-op to hear about camp? We would love to help you do that. Camp can visit your church, provide brochures, or come for a camp night in your home. If you're interested, contact Olli to explore the possibilities.
- Refer friends to our blog to read what others have said about their camp experience- and share your own story with us!
- Gift certificates are available for any amount. Help someone you love have a camp experience! Order one today.

CEDARBROOK VOLUNTEERS
Donna and Lou have been married since 1999, after meeting at the church they still attend, Island Christian Church (formerly Northport Baptist Church) in East Northport, New York. Their marriage brought together four young children- Andrew and Nicholas Amato, and Alex and Ashley Brown, now adults. The family grew with the addition Gabriella (Gabby) in 2001, Nathaniel in 2003, and Isabelle (Izzy) in 2007-a modern "His-Hers-Ours" for the 21st century! Last year they added a dog, Dakota, which Gabby firmly believes was an answer to their prayer since she knows her parents were against getting a dog from the time it was requested. The family still attends Island Christian Church where Lou leads worship and together Donna and Lou lead a "LifeGroup."
One of the favorite things the family enjoys doing is getting away to Camp Cedarbrook for the Memorial Day Work Weekend, a yearly family outing where they work hard and enjoy the friendships that have been forged over the years. Father-Daughter Camp has also been a favorite. Lou first attended with Ashley, and now Gabby and Izzy are old enough to attend with Dad. "These have been some of the most memorable and tender moments of my life as I have seen my girls grow up before my eyes," explains Lou. "They go from hardly being able to do the events like rock wall to handily climbing over, while I struggle and am less able to scale it-must be the increase in gravity they have been talking about. Rarely has there been such a rich opportunity to disconnect from the world and connect to daughters and God in such a tender atmosphere. It is something we will not soon forget as we continue our treks to the camp year after year by the grace of God."
Lou and Donna also cite the counselors rate of return and dedication as examples of the Spirit of the Lord which inhabits the lives at camp. "To say we were thankful for the camp and its faithful staff seems inadequate to express our heartfelt feelings about Camp Cedarbrook." Equally important is the natural beauty of the camp property, an expression of God's awesome gifts. Lou shares, "Imagine a crystal clear evening and the amazing sight of stars exploding in the sky overhead and you begin to approach the feeling we get from serving in and visiting the camp year after year. To say that it's one of those rare lifetime treats for us is truly an understatement. We truly love the staff and seeing what God is doing in a wonderful camp in the New York State mountains."
