Greetings!
As Thanksgiving approaches, we are thankful for many things- campers who came to Christ for the first time, high quality staff who love Jesus, connecting with alumni at 45th anniversary celebrations, financial gifts from friends and alumni, volunteers on work weekends and during summer programs, a successful zoo walk fundraiser, safety and good health for all! Do you want to be a part of what God does through camp in 2011? Consider getting involved as a volunteer, donor, recruiter, sender, referring friend, camper, or prayer warrior.
We want to hear from you!
- Will you share your story about the impact camp has had in your life or the life of your daughter so that we can share it with others? (Stories can be shared anonymously.)
- Do you have a tip that would be helpful to other parents or campers? Share it. We'd like to collect your best tips to share in future newsletters.

Peggy & Barry Owen
CEDARBROOK MISSIONARY UPDATE

A brief report from Barry and Peggy Owen, who continue their good work in Taiwan serving with WorldVenture.
We are into our second year of working in a young church in Chiayi County called The Grace Place. There are lots of opportunities for outreach, including Bible studies, English classes, quilting classes, and parent/child activities. It's been exciting to get to know people as they come into the church at all different places in their spiritual lives and to see them grow in their relationship with God and in their desire to reach out to others. One of our biggest needs now is for a bigger facility, both for Sunday morning worship and for activities during the week. We are grateful for our Taiwanese co-workers, James and Joyce, and count it a privilege to work with them. Email Peggy |

REFER-A-FRIEND DISCOUNTS
By referring a friend, you and your friend can earn credit toward your camper tuition fees. Because our best advertising is done by our current Cedarbrook families, the Refer-A-Friend program is our way of saying "thank you" for spreading the word. The more friends you refer using this program, the more credit you earn. You could even attend camp this summer for free!
How to Refer a Friend:
1. Give the promotional code REFCCA11 to friends and family who have never before sent a camper to a Camp Cedarbrook in the Adirondacks program.
2. Tell them to be sure to enter your full first and last name and the promotional code as the referring friend when they register their child for a summer camp session.
3. They save $50 and you save $50.

First-Ever Zoo Walk
A Success! The sun rose on a beautiful September 25th as 163 participants made their way through the early light to the first-ever Camp Cedarbrook in the Adirondacks Zoo Walk fundraiser. Enthusiasm was high as the participants checked in, had a snack, and met friends old and new. Emerald Geiger led cup-stacking fun while Wren and Lewie did face painting. Promptly at 8:00 am, the walkers set out on the two-mile route through the Bronx Zoo. Most found that the animals were still at breakfast, but it was special to have this beautiful property for our group alone during the walk. Along the way, zoo workers were preparing for the day, giving a llama a walk or setting out food for a giraffe. Camp friends like Wally, Jay, Guin, Buzz, Rory, Bean, and Hudson stood along the route to offer encouragement and point walkers in the right direction. More than 100 participants attended the buffet barbecue lunch at 11:00 am, a great time to relax over lunch, catch up with friends, and plan the rest of the day at the zoo. Through the faithfulness of our walkers, 399 different pledges raised $19,594, exceeding our goal of $15,000. (Promised pledges to come will bring the total to $20,149.) Pledge Levels Reached Individuals Families 26 Sparrows 6 Flocks of Sparrows 7 Kookaburras 6 Colonies of Kookaburras 5 Peacocks 1 Parcel of Peacocks 29 Eagles 13 Congregations of Eagles Many thanks to our corporate sponsors: Bellisimo Ristorante; Bunk1.com; Chick-Fil-A; Dobert's Dairy; Hiscock & Barclay, LLP; IconCS; J Ross Creations; M&M Auto-NAPA; MacKenzie Doors; Maspeth Welding; Mr. D's Tees; Paramount Mortgage Funding; TD Insurance; Anonymous.

Wish List and Special Projects
We are thankful for the many items from our wish list that were donated last year! You can view our updated wish list anytime- it includes all sorts of items from large to small that are needed for summer 2011.
There are currently two large projects for the 2011 camp season: MEN AND WOMEN OF STEEL
We need people who can install metal roofing on a few buildings this May and June, including the Activity Building. If you can help with the labor or with the cost of supplies, please contact us. Learn more. DISH WISH
Using our current dial-up internet at camp, it is difficult to accomplish all we need to do. High-speed lines are not an option in our area. We need to install a complete satellite system for internet (hughesnet dish, modem, radio arm, mounting hardware) before camp begins. Learn more. If you are interested in providing equipment, contact us. |
