SPEAKER JENNIFER STORM
Author and speaker Jennifer Storm will receive the National Crime Victim Law Institute's 2012 Gail Burns-Smith Excellence in Victim Services Award on Friday, June 8. 

This award recognizes Jennifer's leadership in advancing the rights of victims of crime and her tireless commitment to shed light on the hidden issues that victims face. 

Jennifer Storm is an advocate of victim's rights. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Victim Witness Assistance Program.. 

She is the author of three books:  Picking Up the Pieces Without Picking Up: A Guidebook through Victimization for People in Recovery, Blackout Girl: Growing  Up and Drying Out in America and Leave the Light On: A Memoir of Recovery and Self-Discovery. 
 
Melissa Moore

Melissa is an international speaker and author who offers a dynamic message of the unlimited power of choice. At 15, she discovered her father was the infamous "Happy Face" serial killer. Her book, Shattered Silence, is her honest account of growing up with a sociopathic father. She had to re-learn --from friends and other family members-- what "normal" was. She is an advocate for protecting victims of violence & keeping children safe.
 
Mildred Muhammad

Mildred is a domestic violence survivor. Her former husband was the convicted DC Sniper, John Allen Muhammad, who terrorized the DC region in 2002. He used random attacks to plot Mildred's death-- which would be taken to be another random shooting and not a calculated murder. Author of Scared Silent, Mildred speaks about her harrowing life and survival of domestic violence.
