Register by December 7th for our latest Public Performance Measurement Online Certificate Module!
The Citizen Surveys and Reporting module (PPM 400) in the online Public Performance Measurement Certificate is still open for registration. PPM 400 begins on December 12, 2011 and ends on January 13, 2012. Please note: Registration ends December 7, 2011, so be sure to register now.
This is one of five modules in total. To receive a Public Performance Measurement Certificate from our program, one must successfully complete all five modules. You may take the five modules in any order! For example, one can start the certificate program now with PPM 300, successfully complete and take the remaining modules, finish with PPM 200, and receive our certificate.

California Think Tank Launches Ballot Effort to Fix State Government

Summary: California Forward, a leading California-based think tank, put forward its latest ballot proposal aiming to solve the state's fiscal and governance problems. The proposal includes adopting a two-year budget, curbing last-minute legislative amendments, and performance-based budgeting - which will require government departments to provide lawmakers with performance goals and corresponding measures.
Governor Shuts Down Transparency Website

Summary: California governor Jerry Brown shut down a government transparency website, which had been created to make it easier for voters to access public records, in order to cut down on unnecessary spending and inefficiencies. His office stated that the information previously contained in the website, such as government spending, can also be found elsewhere - and they have provided links to these sites as well.
Mixed Progress on Varied Goals in Agency Sustainability Score Cards

Summary: A total of 24 government agencies and departments have released their plans for tracking and maintaining sustainability goals reflecting varying levels of progress in different areas. Based on these score cards, only the Treasury Department, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the General Services Administration garnered positive marks.

Offered by the National Center for Public Performance and the Public Performance Measurement and Reporting Network, the Public Performance Measurement certificate is a vital tool for establishing and/or broadening performance measurement expertise.
