Stratton opens for the 2011/12 season

This past Sunday was Stratton's opening day.

Yes, there was a nicely painted white stripe down the middle (North American!) and the coverage was pretty nice. With warm, wet weather in the short-term forecast, the snow-making opportunities won't come until later in the week. Every season is different . . . getting this one started is looking like a struggle.

We are scratching this weekend's 50+ event as a direct result of the limited terrain and our primary concern for everyone's safety out there. We will announce the new date as soon as the Resort confirms a few details. Everyone will have the opportunity to receive a full refund as well. Please be patient with this.

Don't forget - this coming weekend . . . our Opening Party is still on  - it's around the corner and promises to be great fun.

Something New!

We've run the midweek ski clinics for years now and many members have taken advantage of the great coaching and enjoyed the program. (For more information, print out the form by clicking on the link on the left.)

Members have requested
a more advanced Saturday ski group.

The tentative dates are December 17, January 7, 21, 28, February 4, 11, 25, March 3,10, 17, 24 - sessions will run from 8:45 AM to 11:40.

Skiing will be essentially top to bottom with no more than one stop. Pace will be quick but not frenetic. This is above the intermediate level. Coaching will be light but as specific as a participant wishes.

The initial leader is a 20 year plus PSIA Level III instructor coach who has worked at five different schools.  The emphasis will be on fun, variety and camaraderie:

skill and ability improvement will be a by-product not a hardcore focus.

We will have one brief coffee or warm-up break depending on weather and group feeling/dynamics of the day.

There will be approximately 10 sessions and if one must be cancelled due to conditions every effort will be made for a make-up session.  The seasonal fee will be $349 (plus tax) payable at sign up. No refunds will be offered, no substitutes and this offer is valid for ski season 2011/12 only.

If this sounds interesting . . . please  e-mail  your name and "Interested."

If you would have interest in a more moderate group but still solid intermediate (and assuming we have enough people and a qualified coach) e-mail  your name and the single word "INTERMEDIATE."

Membership . . .

We clean up all of our lists in December and former   members' names and all former "permanent guests" are removed from our membership and e-mail lists.

You can avoid being "zapped." We urge you to join today (a $30 membership earns you a major discount at all of our local ski retailers!) and the camaraderie is FREE!

If you suddenly stop receiving our e-blasts and would like to continue these Musings, log on to our site and send us an e-mail.
