Become An Artist of All Trades
If you're having trouble deciding which art class to take at CityArts this fall, why not take one that lets you do a little bit of everything.
Art Exploration for Adults is a four-week class that meets from 2:30-4:40 p.m. on Saturdays starting Oct. 20. Students will be led through a mix of projects that involve painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture and more. It is open to anyone over the age of 16, and absolutely no experience is necessary! Art Exploration for Adults is one of 33 classes that start in October and listed on CityArts' calendar. Register today to make sure you get a seat in the class you want! Digital Arts Studio Director Bryan McManus and his wife, Claira, has been accepted into the inaugural Louisiana Film Festival. The couple's film "The Adventures of Captain Oliver" is one of 20 finalists that will premiere at the Shreveport, La.-based festival Oct. 5-7 where a $50,000 grand cash prize is at stake. ... Open House Promises Surprises
The decision to attend the Mid-America All-Indian Center's Open House from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on

Saturday, Sept. 29 should be an easy one, considering it has a AAA rating -- for artifacts, animals and artist demonstrations.

American Indian Craft Classes
Classes are open to Indian Center members and the general public, but limited to the first 12 people who sign up. School-age children must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18 to participate. The enrollment fee is $10 per person.
- Oct. 13: Beginning Finger Woven Belt Class, 1-3 p.m. Instructor: Local artist Betty McGarigle
Learn this American Indian belt-making technique and create colorful, patterned pieces for your own enjoyment or as a gift to others. - Oct. 27: Appliqué Beaded Medallion Class,
1-3 p.m. Instructor: Local artist Michelle Conine Make your own appliqué beaded medallion that can be used as a fashion accessory on everyday clothing or regalia.  - Nov. 17: Peyote Stitch Hair Sticks Class,
1-3 p.m. Instructor: Local artist Michelle Conine Create a beautiful hair accessory using this off-loom weaving technique that incorporates bead work.
