Fall Art Classes Announced
Art classes at CityArts are for everyone. Get serious about art or just have a little fun.  This fall, there are 16 new classes that you won't find anywhere else. CityArts staff members are particularly excited about the launch of the center's Digital Arts Completion Program, "Art is Pinterest" and "Veteran's Poetry." We'd like to know which class you are most excited about. Tell us on our Facebook page.
Gallery Exhibits Be sure to catch these two exhibits before they close on Saturday: The Arts Council's Annual Juried Exhibit, Main Gallery; and "Kansas and Beyond," photography by Neil Marcus, Boardroom Gallery. Final Friday activities will also include the Youthville Chalk ART Festival silent auction from 5-9 p.m. Come ChatGet together with friends to discuss "T"echnology, "E"ducation and "D"esign during "Tea with TED" at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11 in CityArts' Digital Arts Studio. Indian Center
Benefit Car Show Sept. 16 The Mid-America All-Indian Center has 110 reasons why you and your family should attend its Benefit Car Show from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16. And all of those reasons come in the form of classic cars and motorcycles!
The car show is free and open to the public. There will also be hands-on activities for the kids and Indian tacos for sale! As an added bonus, Indian Center Museum admission will be discounted to just $1 (savings of $6).

Even though Cox is best known for his movie villain roles in "RoboCop," "Total Recall" and the TV series "Stargate," the New Mexico native has been writing songs and telling stories for more than four decades.
The Steels Wheels is truly an Americana band rooted in musical styles that explore the territories between blues and bluegrass, old-time sing-alongs and foot-stompin' fiddle tunes. The four-piece band is based in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.

Special Exhibits Old Cowtown Museum is famous for its gunfights and saloon girls, but it's also home to high-quality special exhibits that are housed year-round inside Empire Hall (adjacent to Empire House Theater).
Currently on display:
- "The Vote Is In" (now through Nov. 15)
What were elections in the Victorian era like? What was the process? Was there mudslinging? This exhibit answers all of those questions. - "Ice Harvest" (now through Nov. 15)
Focuses on the dangerous and labor-intensive process of carving out blocks of ice from a frozen river so businesses and families could use them to preserve their food.

Spinner's Kids Club at CityArts!  The Spinner's Kids Club August event -- the final one for the year -- will be at CityArts from noon-2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25. All kids wearing their Spinner's Kids Club badges or T-shirts will get into CityArts for FREE! Parents/adults and non-Kid's Club members receive a special $5 rate.
CityArts, the Indian Center and Cowtown are all proud to be sponsors of the 2012 Wichita Wingnuts Spinner's Kids Club. The club is for children ages 14 and younger, and membership is FREE!
During the August party, there will be an arts and craft project, opportunities to walk around CityArts' art galleries, an appearance by a Wingnuts player and the team's mascot, Spinner.
