The energy inside CityArts is always taken up a notch during Final Fridays, when the community steps inside our galleries to mingle and enjoy an evening dedicated to art. Indian Center
Tracing Indian Genealogy The Mid-America All-Indian Center is pleased to offer two free lectures by Choctaw Indian Jason Felihkatubbe on Saturday, Aug. 18. The public is invited.
From noon-1 p.m., he will speak on the "History of the Choctaw." It will be followed by a "Genealogy" presentation at 1:15 p.m. that emphasizes the Five Civilized Tribes, ways to trace ancestry through Indian records and enrollment policies/procedures.
Felihkatubbe is a project director at Wichita State University and instructor at Butler Community College.
Education Schedule July 28: Beginning Finger Woven Belt Class, taught by local artist Betty McGarigle, 1-3 p.m. Free to members; $10 for non-members.
Aug. 4: Beginning Clay Turtle Workshop, taught by local artist Sheila Bazil, 10 a.m.-noon., $10 members and non-members.
Aug. 18: Dream Catcher-Making Workshop, taught by local artist Michelle Conine, 1-3 p.m., $10 members and non-members.

Ready to Stomp and Holler?
Carrie Nation & The Speakeasy and Dumptruck Buttlerlips are coming to Old Cowtown Museum Aug. 18 for an evening benefit concert down Main Street. All ages -- and lawn chairs -- are welcome. Proceeds will support Cowtown's Empire House Live! concert series that is bringing a new style of entertainment to Wichita!
