Thank you, Wichita! CityArts and Old Cowtown Museum would like to thank the community for their votes in The Wichita Eagle's 2011 Reader's Choice Poll that was announced Sept. 23. CityArts was named Wichita's Favorite Art Gallery and Cowtown was singled out as Wichita's Favorite Museum. Thousands of Eagle and Kansas.com readers cast their votes in more than 150 categories. Both CityArts and Cowtown couldn't be more proud of their new titles and are looking forward to personally thanking their visitors!

Indian Center
Youth Artist to Watch
The Mid-America All-Indian Center is proud to introduce the community to Kineu Rutledge. Paintings and drawings by the 18-year-old artist will be on display Sept. 30 through Oct. 22 in the Indian Center's Buffalo Room. An artist reception will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30. ... (read more) Art and Book Sale Several Powwows are held annually at the Mid-America All-Indian Center. The Autumn Benefit Powwow on Saturday, Oct. 22, however, will offer something new to the public - a Book and Art Sale.
The Indian Center will be selling books, magazines, CDs, posters and other items from a variety of genres, including American Indian topics. Proceeds will be used to purchase artwork for the Indian Center museum as well as new books and media for the museum's reference library. ... (read more)

Celebrate KS' Birthday
A statewide party to celebrate Kansas' 150th birthday is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 8 in downtown Wichita. Everyone is invited! The celebration includes:Sunflower Parade down Main Street at 11 a.m.;booths spotlighting Kansas cities and businesses, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on the west side of Century II; and "Kansas: Home on the Range" concert at 2:30 p.m. in Century II Convention Hall.
