Wichita Flight Festival
Concert Act To Be Announced Aug. 3
With the Wichita Flight Festival quickly approaching on Aug. 20-21 at Jabara Airport, curiosity is building about the lineup for the Saturday night Twilight Air Show and Concert. The wait is almost over. This year's air show performers and concert band will be announced next week during an Aug. 3 press conference. As soon as the formal announcement is made, the festival's Web site will be updated with all of the exciting details!
Tickets for the Twilight Air Show and Concert will be $5. Advance tickets will be sold at WichitaTIX.com; they may also be purchased at the gate.

Reliving summer; looking ahead to fall art classes
CityArts has posted a new video on its YouTube channel that highlights the creativity and imagination of young summer campers who staged their own fashion show!
CityArts' summer art classes end Aug. 5, but a new session of adult and youth classes start Sept. 12. Be on the lookout for CityArts' fall class brochure that will be published in the Aug. 19 Wichita Eagle and available online at WichitaArts.com.

Indian Center

The Mid-America All-Indian Center is offering a "Beginning Finger Woven Belt Class" from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13. If you want to learn this American Indian belt-making technique, sign up today. everyone's expectations. More than 100 American Indians participated in the contest powwow and vendors from around the country sold artwork and jewelry of impeccable quality. The animal demonstrations that involved eagles from the Eagle Valley Raptor Center and horses from Old Cowtown Museum were also a huge hit with kids and adults. The festival was a true celebration of the American Indian people, their culture and talents. Thank you to everyone who attended. Special Exhibits in Empire Hall Old Cowtown Museum is famous for its gunfights and saloon girls, but it's also home to some thought-provoking special exhibits that are housed year-round inside Empire Hall.
Currently on display in the Empire Hall Exhibit Gallery:"The exhibits allow us to explore certain topics more in-depth than usual and showcase many artifacts that are not always available to the public," said Cowtown Director David Flask.
This added attraction is compliments of Cowtown's Curator Amy Loch and Assistant Curator Teddie Barlow who have a knack from creating colorful and intricate displays that amaze visitors.

 Age of the Gunfighter Gunfighters will be invading Cowtown on Saturday, Sept. 3 for the exciting Age of the Gunfighter event. It is a Reenactment Guild of America-sanctioned competition, so the streets are sure to be filled with trigger-happy cowboys. ... (read more)
