The artistic program was initiated by Mayor Carl Brewer and is implemented by the Arts Council in cooperation with the City of Wichita and Sedgwick County. Mayor Brewer, County Commission Chair Dave Unruh and Dora Timmerman-Bayer and Judy Goodpasture, chairs of the Arts Council Sculpture WalkAbout Committee will speak briefly. Dr. Jan Schall, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO will also speak.
The sculptures will remain for a year. The art is chosen from a juried competition and is available for purchase, but must remain until new work is installed next spring. Sculptures are located in Old Town on north Mosley and Mead between Douglas and Second Street and on the Intrust Bank

AC Candidates' Forum on the Arts
On March 21, 2011 the Arts Council sponsored an Arts Forum at Century II for the candidates running for mayor and city commission. All ten candidates attended and responded to questions read by the League of Women Voters' moderator. Each candidate assured the audience that he or she, if elected, would vote to support the arts in our community. The candidates were impressed that the arts community turned out in strength to hear them, and several said our forum was the largest they had attended.
