Valentine's Day Powwow
Visitors had a wonderful experience at the Indian Center's 2nd Annual Valentine's Day Powwow on Feb. 12. Everywhere you looked, people were mingling, singing, dancing, eating, shopping and having an overall good time. Kids especially enjoyed the face painting. ... (View our Facebook Photo Album)
The powwow was part of the City's yearlong celebration to mark Kansas' 150th birthday and our state's rich heritage. It was also a fundraiser to help fund future powwows. More than $3,000 was donated from the nearly 1,300 people in attendance. Thank you! 'We Shall Remain' Series
The Indian Center will show the final two parts of the "We Shall Remain" documentary on Feb. 23 and March 9 as part of its Share our Culture Lecture Series. The lectures are free and open to the public.
The PBS documentary provides an unprecedented look at American Indians' fight to preserve their culture during pivotal points in U.S. history. |
