August 28, 2012
Greetings!

Please join us for TWO endorsement meetings this month: Ballot Measures, then Candidates.

Joni Eisen, President

Potrero Hill Democratic Club

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4th, 6:30pm (NOT 7): Ballot measure endorsement meeting
Propositions for California and San Francisco

November 6th is not just about Obama vs. Romney. There are 18 propositions on the ballot (11 local, 7 state), and it's important that you know what they're about. I guarantee that you will leave this meeting much better informed than when you arrived.

There will be speakers pro and con, Q & A after each one. Members in good standing will cast their ballots at the end of the meeting.

WHEN: Tuesday, September 4th, 6:30pm - note earlier start time
WHERE: Potrero Hill Neighborhood House, 953 De Haro St

Neighborhood phone banks for Obama every Tuesday & Saturday
Help the Obama campaign and Democrats down the ticket too - phone bank TONIGHT

Speaking of Obama vs. Romney - here's a message from volunteer OFA leader Kierith Jones: "Our last phone bank in August is [tonight, Aug 28] and we're just about 70 days before election day.  Romney and friends are having their big party this week so let's mobilize to help voters sort through the rhetoric. Sign up for [tonight's] phone bank in Potrero Hill here."

Phone banks are every Tuesday 6-8pm on the Hill, and every Saturday 10am-noon at Mars Bar. Join your neighborhood team on the Dashboard.

COMING UP for OUR ALLIES
Wed Aug 29. 8 Washington press conference

An effort to get the Board of Supervisors to repeal their decision in regards to the height increase of 8 Washington. 11am, Polk Street steps of City Hall.

Sat Sept 15. Coastal Cleanup Day 2012

Join your neighbors and other fans of Warm Water Cove to clean it up and keep trash out of the Bay. More info and signup here. Find out more about Coastal Cleanup Day itself here. 9am - noon, 24th St @ the Bay.

Sat Sept 22. Tell the Governor: Stop Fracking California

PHDC has already signed on to a letter to Governor Brown to ban hydraulic fracturing by oil and gas companies. According to PHDC frequent visitor Adam Scow of Food & Water Watch, the State is about to propose weak and phony regulations. So now here's another way to send the message: Global Frackdown! Special guest speakers, breakfast, and a photo on Golden Gate Bridge. 10am - noon, gather on Long Avenue in Crissy Field.

August 7th Meeting  followup
Another productive meeting (what else would you expect?)

People signed up to bring food or volunteer at the Aug 11th party. The Club passed a strong resolution to put the California DISCLOSE Act on the ballot, and also voted to sign on to the No Wall on the Waterfront campaign (opposition to height increase at 8 Washington).

Special guest speakers were Democratic Convention delegates Arthur Murillo and Rick Hauptman, and Obama team leader Kierith Jones, who absolutely nailed how and why we in California can and must help the effort in the battleground states. You don't have to leave town or donate any money! Again, sign up at Dashboard.
