Greetings!
This Tuesday the agenda is crowded with candidates. Some have name recognition, some not. Come see who these people are.
*Yes, thanks to you, lovely readers, this newsletter is a "Constant Contact All Star Award Winner" (top 10% in reader response or something like that) for the second year in a row. BFD, eh?

NEXT MEETING TUESDAY, APRIL 3rd, 6:30pm: ENDORSEMENTS for the JUNE 5th PRIMARY
|
| Candidates, local & state propositions
Come and meet more than 20 candidates for San Francisco Democratic Central Committee, Assembly District 17 (there are close to 30 who qualified to run for 14 seats). The SF DCCC is the governing body of the San Francisco Democratic Party. Another office-seeker you will hear from who will be on the ballot this June is David Levitt, Democrat running for U.S. Senate, who was inadvertently left off local and state "official" lists of qualified candidates (other Dem Clubs, take note - he is on the ballot). Hear arguments for and against California Prop 28 - Limits on Legislators' Terms in Office - and Prop 29 - Tax on Cigarettes for Cancer Research; and San Francisco Prop A - Garbage Collection and Disposal - and Prop B - Coit Tower Policy. Because of the large number of candidates, this meeting will be a long one, 6:30 to 9:30pm. Don't worry, we'll feed you! To vote on endorsements, you must be a regular, resident member whose dues are paid for 2012 and who has attended at least two PHDC-sponsored meetings or other activities in the past 12 months. New members must have joined the Club at least 60 days before the endorsement vote. WHEN: Tuesday, April 3, 6:30pm SHARP (NOT 7:00!)
WHERE: Potrero Hill Neighborhood House, 953 De Haro St

MARCH 6th PHDC MEETING FOLLOWUP
| | Free MUNI for Youth Coalition presented their case
Another terrific meeting! At the beginning, after a presentation and Q&A with Luis Barahona, Phimy Truong and Leah LaCroix ( l. to r.) of the Free Muni for Youth Coalition, the Club voted to endorse that campaign. Club Secretary J.R. Eppler has sent the promised letter of support to the SF MTA Board and appropriate other recipients. The MTA Board will vote on this issue this Tuesday, April 3rd. Occupy SF occupied the Neighborhood House
The major portion of the evening was devoted to Occupy SF. Heartfelt thanks to Joshua Clayton, Janice Suess, Rachel Lyra Hospodar, Jane Smith, and Andy Gillis (l. to r. above), active participants in various Working Groups within Occupy San Francisco, who engaged members and friends of PHDC in spirited, eye-opening conversation. We got to know each other a bit, and let's keep the channels of communication open. To see what's going on with the many working groups of Occupy, and to find out how you can participate, visit the OccupySF Calendar. Photos by Rebecca Shearin. |
