  California DISCLOSE Act campaign update
CA DISCLOSE Act AB 1148 has successful campaign kickoff in SF, Assembly hearings in Sacramento

The California DISCLOSE Act would mandate disclosing who is really paying for every political ad in California - on the ad itself. It's something we can work directly on now.

On Jan. 8 the CA DISCLOSE Act SF Campaign kicked off at the Main Library with speakers Senator Mark Leno, Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, Michelle Romero of the Greenlining Institute, CA Clean Money Campaign President Trent Lange, and numerous activists from co-sponsoring organizations, including PHDC. The next day in Sacramento, after nearly 100 supporters from all over California showed up to testify at the hearing, AB 1148 passed the Assembly Elections Committee 5-0. On Jan. 19, the Appropriations Committee passed it along party lines. The Assembly floor vote must be held Jan. 31. This will be a tough one, requiring 2/3 vote to pass. Then comes the Senate.

Call Assembly Speaker John Pérez (himself a co-author of the bill - thank him!) at 916-319-2046, to urge him to do everything he can to pass the CA DISCLOSE Act - because voters have a right to know. You can call anytime and leave a message.
