On the agenda, not at all necessarily in this order:
1. Candidates for Democratic County Central Committee, District 13. This race is usually won on name recognition alone. To mitigate that situation as far as our endorsement process is concerned,
we have invited only the 18 candidates who have not been elected to public office before (all 30 names will be on the endorsement ballot).
Before the candidates appear, District 12 DCCC member
Hene Kelly and former District 13 member
Bill Barnes will talk briefly about the form and function of the Committee.
2. We have invited major Democratic Primary candidates for Lieutenant Governor (
Janice Hahn, Gavin Newsom) and Insurance Commissioner (
Hector De La Torre, Dave Jones) and major nonpartisan candidates for Superintendent of Public instruction (
Larry Aceves, Gloria Romero, Tom Torlakson). All the campaigns have responded, but it is unclear at this time who exactly will be there. Stay tuned. Here's a
list of all the statewide candidates.
