Greetings!

It's been a good, frustrating year for PHDC as a progressive Democratic club. So relieved to be rid of the scourge of the BushCheney regime, so disappointed that so much that we want isn't happening. We're just doing what we can here on the Hill. Action, as always, is the best antidote for anger.

For an overview of PHDC in 2009, please look at our web site home page and scroll down. If you like what we've been doing and want to support our efforts - or, better still, become an active participant - by all means become a member in 2010 by clicking on the link at left.

Happy New Year!

Potrero Hill Democratic Club
NEXT MEETING: BRING BACK MAJORITY RULE
Just one sentence will do itStateCapitol

Author and UC Berkeley Linguistics Professor George Lakoff has sent to the Attorney General a ballot proposition for November 2010 which consists essentially of the following: "All legislative actions on revenue and budget must be determined by a majority vote." You can see the whole thing here (scroll down to 1386 - the numbers run backwards - and click on Full Text). Sonoma State University Philosophy Professor Teed Rockwell of the CA Majority Rule campaign will speak to us about bringing sanity back to the state legislative process.

And, on the local front: Starr King Openspace, which literally belongs to all residents of Potrero Hill, has seen some exciting changes recently in the structure and function of its volunteer Board, stewardship of the land, and community outreach. David Glober, neighbor and Board member, will fill us in on these developments.

We will begin taking nominations for 2010 Club Officers; the election will be held during the Feb 2nd meeting. We will also have the opportunity to meet a couple more candidates for District 10 Supervisor.

WHERE:  Potrero Hill Neighborhood House, 953 De Haro St @ Southern Heights
WHEN:  Tuesday, January 5th, at 7PM
