Endorsement votes for Nov. 3rd: all over the place

There were great speakers and compelling arguments on both sides of the issues. But in the end, only one of the 5 local propositions on the November 3rd ballot got enough votes one way or the other to qualify for an official PHDC position
: YES on E, to limit advertisements on City property. FYI, here's a comparison chart of eight clubs' endorsements.

Incumbents City Attorney Dennis Herrera and Treasurer José Cisneros each spoke seeking re-election, and both earned the Club's endorsement. We also voted unanimously to endorse a resolution demanding a strong public option in the health care reform bill.

Alan Dechert. founder and president of Open Voting Consortium,
discussed the need for free, open-source voting software, as opposed to the secret, proprietary software now used for most elections in the US.

Membership update: One renewal and one new member joining at the meeting brought our total to 70 paid members for 2009.
