Issue: #4 March 2009
Greetings!
 MARCH MEETING FOLLOWUP
Laura Hahn at PHDC
Our first guest speaker was Laura Hahn of the Bay Area Sierra Club, on implementing Clean Power SF (also called Community Choice Aggregation). The LAFCo hearing a few days after the meeting unfortunately resulted in yet another delay.

Ben Golvin at PHDC
Then Ben Golvin of Equity Community Builders spoke and answered questions about plans to rebuild Potrero Terrace and Annex. There will be a Town Hall meeting on the subject March 23rd at the Nabe.

Mission Creek
Eleven people signed up for our early Earth Day cleanup with Save the Bay, April 11th at Mission Creek. Good show! I will be emailing those folks more info soon. If anyone else wants to participate, please rsvp. They only have room for four more volunteers.

Membership update: We now have 66 members, 48 of whom have paid their dues for 2009. Please consider joining us this year. Thanks!
THIS SATURDAY: HELP OBAMA'S PLANS SUCCEED
Barack Obama Gather pledges of support in SF

On Saturday, March 21st, thousands of people across the country are participating in the first national day of action by Organizing for America (OFA), hosting Pledge Project Canvasses to ask citizens to sign a pledge to support President Obama's coming plans for Education, Health Care and Energy, along with his bold agenda for our economy.

There will be at least 6 locations around San Francisco. You can sign up to volunteer for a shift at one of these: Potrero Hill (10am - 1pm); Ferry Building Farmers Market (9am - 1pm); Richmond District (11am - 3pm); Fillmore/Western Addition (10am - 2pm); Dolores Park (11am - 3pm); The Haight (11am - 3pm).
APRIL 7th MEETING: Endorsements for May 19th
Special statewide election will have 6 propositions

The state budget brouhaha has engendered six ballot measures that must be voted on May 19th. There will be speakers pro and con. The public is invited, but only resident members in good standing may vote on endorsements.
Save the date! MARK LENO ON SINGLE-PAYER
Mark Leno PHDC is co-sponsoring April 23rd event

Our friends at District 3 Democratic Club have invited us to co-sponsor State Senator Leno's appearance at Schroeder's. He will discuss SB 810, the single-payer health care bill (successor to termed-out Senator Sheila Kuehl's SB 840, which was endorsed by PHDC in September 2007) that he recently introduced in the state legislature. As always, check our calendar for updates on this and other events.

Yours in democracy,

Joni Eisen, President
Potrero Hill Democratic Club
