Issue: #2 January 2009
Greetings!

The main event this month, for Democrats and all other reasonable people, is of course the End of an Error on January 20th - with all the surrounding hoopla. If you are not going to DC, here are some ways to participate on the home front. Also: Join PHDC! Run for office!

MLK Day of Service THE OBAMAS' CALL TO SERVICE JANUARY 19th
Spend Martin Luther King Jr Day being the solution

On the eve of the Inauguration, Michelle and Barack Obama will join thousands of Americans in a day of community service, ushering in a new era and "an enduring commitment to our neighborhoods."

Here in San Francisco, you can choose to join a service event from the Obama-related USAservice.org site; park restoration with the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy; the Quesada Gardens Initiative's Bayview spruce-up; Chinatown community improvement or Gilman Playground restoration with Citizen Hope. And I'm sure there are even more opportunities available, for a fun and rewarding day. See you out there!

Check our calendar for ideas on how to celebrate Inauguration Day itself on January 20th.
