New FREE Patterns:
Cuddles and more... More free patterns? How do we do it? Well, it is very easy for our designers to get inspiration from all the lovely CP yarns! This month saw the introduction of Cuddles, and we now have three patterns up in this super soft yarn! The Stroller Baby Blanket (or Throw) is an easy knit and a great way to show off Cuddles. Sized for either a baby or accent throw, the pattern is written as a two-stripe design. It features the mistake rib, a version of the k2 x p2 rib that works up easily and looks similar to (but easier than, in my opinion) the brioche rib. This blanket feels great!
The second of our new Cuddles patterns is gorgeous. The Inner Truth Cable Scarf, designed by Laura Andersson and originally done in Panda Silk DK, really wows in Cuddles! This yarn is proving to be an excellent choice for big, comfy cables, or any fun stitch pattern for that matter. This project will test your skills and keep you excited as you see the pattern emerge. The central panel features a cable-within-a-cable, with seed stitch side edging and k1 x p1 rib on the top and bottom. This scarf takes just four affordable balls of yarn to make. This pattern includes a Cowl option as well.
The Tri-Cornered Baby Hat is the latest in the Cuddles pattern library. This cutie whips up quickly, using just one ball of Cuddles. A k2 x p2 cuff edges the hat, while the rest of the crown is done in Stockinette stitch. The three corners are formed with Kitchener stitch, finished with I-cords for the knots. This will surely become a favorite for all those special little ones in your life. Check out the Chunky Mochi version also, and watch for the upcoming version in Mochi Plus, too.
We have added more Stitch Red designs as well, done in our Stitch Red color, Merino 5 #1012 "Crimson". The Concentric Heart Hat, also designed by Laura Andersson, is a sweet little cap sized for an adult or child. It features a two-colored heart in the front with left-twist-ribbing. This ribbing is both very good-looking and great for a nice-fitting hat. The pattern takes one full ball of Crimson and a partial ball in the contrasting color.
We also have the Crocheted Fingerless Gloves available in Merino 5. I have been so inspired by all the beautiful attention that is being paid to crochet lately that I just had to join in the designing fun! These gloves are fun to work up and fit, well, like a glove. The flower accent with buttons in the center makes this pair extra special. Pictured in the Stitch Red color #1012 "Crimson", this pattern would look great in any of the solid Merino 5 shades.

Indie News: Custom Crocheted Sweaters by Dora Ohrenstein
Crystal Palace is happy to be part of the new Lark publication, Custom Crocheted Sweaters: Make Garments that Fit, written by talented crochet designer Dora Ohrenstein. This book boasts to be "the only how-to guide to focus specifically on customizing crocheted sweaters." The book offers 10 beautiful designs with tips on how to customize your sweater for that perfect fit. The Fiji Cardi, designed in the delightful "Beach Scene" shade of Mini Mochi, dresses up a casual outfit quite beautifully. The soft color changes add extra interest to this darling piece. Crocheters seem to really like both Mini Mochi and Mochi Plus for their color-work projects.
Dora Ohrenstein's designs have been seen in many other publications, including Interweave Crochet, Crochet Today and the companion of this recent book, Creating Crochet Fabric, also by Lark. She is the editor of the online crochet community site, Crochet Insider. Custom Crocheted Sweaters is a must for any crochet library!
