Shop Display Contest: VOTE NOW!
As you may know, we are running a display contest for shops that carry Crystal Palace Yarns. We have asked your local yarn shops to enter pictures of one or two Crystal Palace Yarns displays. Now we need your help.
The entries are now up on the Web site. Go to the contest gallery page and vote for your favorite display between September 16 and October 1. The voting link can be found on the gallery page. (Please, only one vote per person.) The lucky shop will receive $250 in product credit plus free shipping through December 2011, which will be announced October 4 on the gallery page.
Next time, it will be your turn. Stay tuned to the October issue of Purls for your chance to enter the next CPY fan contest.

New FREE Patterns: Scarf, Hat & Blanket
We have three new free patterns up on our Web site. First is the Merino 5 Team Spirit Hat, designed by Laura Andersson. Whether you are watching football, baseball or roller derby, this fun, two-colored design is a great way to bring fashion to the stadium stands. Choose your favorite team colors from the wide selection of Merino 5 shades, and show support for your favorite sports team.
The next new pattern is the Neck Wrap Scarf done in our new Moonshine, a dressy little accessory for keeping your neck fancy and warm. The project, designed by Susan Druding, takes only two balls of Moonshine and is worked back and forth on circular needles in a tapering rib pattern. Dress it up with a special button or pin for closure. We will be adding more patterns as the season goes on. See also the Moonshine Cable Panel Knit Scarf, originally featured in last month's Purls. And my favorite free pattern this month is the Striped Baby Blanket, adapted from a design by Linda Iwaszko of Mrs I's Yarn Parlor and featuring alternating bands of Cotton Twirl and Puffin. Working both yarns in garter stitch with size 11 needles produces a very plush and comfortable fabric. The blanket model has been sitting in our office for the past few days, and every time I pass by, I have to touch it. The blanket measures approximately 29 inches square and is great for that special baby in your life.

Indie News: Two Fingerless Gloves in Panda Cotton
Panda Cotton is a solid choice for your next fingerless glove project. We recently added two fingerless glove patterns to the new Indie Patterns on our Website, one knitted and one crocheted. The Backyard Bamboo Mitts, designed by Nanette Blanchard, feature a lovely, Scandanavian-style two-color design knitted in two contrasting colors of Panda Cotton. A less time-consuming project than an entire sweater, these short gloves are a great way to enjoy working with two-color design. And if you like these, be sure to see the Argyle Wrist Warmers designed by Emily Snyder in Panda Silk.
The second set of gloves is the electric Crocheted Stretch Gauntlets pattern by Bonnie Groening. The design offers semi-open stitchwork with elastic fit. Choose a bright color for a flashy and fun statement or a more subdued color for a formal accessory. The pattern uses two balls of Panda Cotton.
