Youth Ministries Update
I am so happy to officially begin as Coordinator of Youth Ministries here at Steel Lake! I wanted to tell you about some exciting upcoming events and changes taking place.
First, September 10th is our Back-to-School Bash from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm! We'll be ending the summer and bringing in the school year with a bang! This is a great time to invite your friends and neighbors, in grades 6 through 12. We'll have food, games, a giant inflatable slide and other cool activities!
Secondly, starting Sunday, September 11th, Core and Cornerstone (high school and middle school) will meet together from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. We'll have snacks available but make sure you have supper before you come!
Finally, there is no youth group this Sunday, September 4 due to Labor Day weekend. I can't wait to see you all in 2 weeks!

Sunday, September 11
SERVICE OF WHOLENESS & HEALING
On September 11th, we will have a "Service of Wholeness and Healing" during our regular Sunday morning worship. This special time will offer everyone in the congregation a time to pray for concerns in their own lives, to pray for friends and family members and to pray for situations in the community, our country and the world. For those who desire individual prayer, there will be elders and deacons available to pray with you after the close of the service. This is an opportunity for all of us as a church family to join our hearts and minds together in and through Christ Jesus as His followers, coming before God as individuals and as one body. |

BACK TO SCHOOL CELEBRATION
It is hard to believe that September is here and kids are heading back to school. To help kick off the school year, the Children's Committee has put together a list of supplies for the nursery and preschool. Your donation will assist in enhancing the experience that young ones have when they step into our church nursery or preschool. It is our sincere joy to share God's love with these little ones, and your contributions will assist with these ministries.
Two online wish lists have been created at amazon.com (Wish list can be accessed by using children@steellake.org) and target.com (under baby registry - First Name: Steel Lake, Last Name: Preschool).
Other items that we continually need throughout the school year are:
- Watercolor Paint Set - 8 colors
- Glue Sticks
- Crackers for snack time
- Juice Powder Mix
- Dixie Cups
- Napkins
- Hand sanitizer
- Clorox Wipes
- Nametags
- Construction Paper
- Small giveaway toys
- Stickers
- Foam letter and shapes with adhesive backs
- Washable markers
- Crayons
Please feel free to drop items or monetary donations anytime at the church office, or bring them to worship for the Back to School Celebration on Sunday, September 18. Thank you in advance for your generous support.

VOLUNTEERS AND SUPPLIES NEEDED!
The youth group is having a Back-to-School Bash on Saturday, September 10th from 4 pm to 7 pm on the church grounds! It's an event for our youth and an outreach to the youth in our local neighborhoods! I am in need of volunteers to help staff the event. I could also use some food donations! If you are interested in helping in any way please contact me at 206-947-5834 or youth@steellake.org. Thanks to all those who have already talked to me!

SING AND PLAY! September brings not only school days but the return of Chancel Choir's and Jubilee Ringers' participation in worship. Rehearsals resume September 7. Jubilee Ringers rehearse on Wednesday evenings, 6-7:15pm and Chancel Choir rehearses Wednesday evenings, 7:30-9pm. Now is an excellent time to join either group! If you've been considering participating in music ministry at Steel Lake, these are both excellent ways to be involved. You can even come and try out the groups for a few weeks to see if they're a good fit for you. Talk to Jeshua (music@steellake.org OR 206-947-5865) if you are interested or have any questions.
