Vacation Bible School Update
SHAKE IT UP CAFE - VBS 2011
It is exciting to announce that SLPC's Vacation Bible School reached over 125 children this summer! Each day at VBS, children and volunteers shook it up through Bible story time, recreation, crafts, music, classroom time, and snacks. Kids met new friends, created lasting memories, and most importantly, learned the secret ingredients in how to carry out God's recipes.
VBS only happens with the assistance of many, many people. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of you who prayed for a successful VBS week, those who generously donated money and supplies, and those who brought in snacks and beverages for our volunteers. You are truly appreciated!
As the director of Shake It Up Cafe VBS, I had the sincere pleasure of working with the most amazing people. These volunteers would enthusiastically tackle each day, sharing their love for the Lord with all the chefs in training. Thank you all for giving of your time and talents to impact the lives of the young people of our church and community.
Blessings,
KIM ERICKSON

Several items that have been identified that they hope to purchase with these funds are : Bibles in Spanish, age-appropriate Sunday School materials, pens, pencils, crayons, shoes for the children, plastic chairs and other items as the need is observed.

YOUNG LIFE WORK CREWS
SLPC has the opportunity to serve Young Life (YL) work crew members on their way to and from Camp Malibu in British Columbia. We will provide the crews a place to rest their heads and a "Grab and Go" breakfast (juice, muffins, etc.) as they travel to and from Malibu. There are about 80 workers each time. The remaining dates we will serve breakfast are
Monday, July 18
Wednesday, July 20
Sunday, August 14
The Outreach Committee has now used up the surplus $100 which carried over from last summer and we need donations of approximately $120 for four breakfasts this summer. (We are now serving 80+ young people each time!) Please make the checks out to SLPC, noting "for: Young Life Breakfast". Thank you for your generosity in advance!!! Also, Lou Olmstead (253-517-3095) and Mary Isaacson (253-335-5772) could use more volunteers for July 18 and 20 and August 14.

DEAR STEEL LAKE "FAMILY"
Thank you so much for your many cards, words of encouragement and prayers during mom's illness. As the pastor in Kansas said, "Now Doris knows" what it was all about! And we are grateful she is now at peace. Thank you, dear friends.
