The tennis court is open!  The pre-season maintenance was completed on our fine clay court and it's ready for play!
Membership
There is NO membership fee for Giants Neck Beach Association Members to use the tennis court.  There is a $5 lock fee payable upon registration

Folks renting at GNB pay the following:

Checks should be made payable to the Giants Neck Beach Association, c/o Anne Patterson, 9 Ridgewood Road, Niantic, CT 06357. Seasonal memberships should be paid not later than July 1st. Other shorter term memberships MUST be paid in advance of the playing term. ONLY PAID MEMBERSHIPS MAY USE THE COURT.

Reserving The Court

There is a notebook in mailbox at tennis court. Any one membership may sign up no more than one day in advance for one hour's play. NO EARLIER THAN 4:00 A.M. on any given day, you may sign in for an hour either that day or the following, but not both. If you sign in for any hour between 7-9 a.m. you may not sign in during those same hours until two days later. Two memberships may reserve the court for two consecutive hours for doubles. If you sign in and then find you are unable to play, please make every effort to remove your name promptly so that someone else may use that time.
Reminders

Players are expected to wear appropriate tennis apparel. Only tennis shoes with FLAT soles are to be used on this court - NO deep corrugations such as those found on running shoes. This is because red clay is a very soft surface and is damaged by deep-tread shoes.

 

ALL persons using the court are responsible for carefully sweeping the court after play. Allow ten minutes before your time is up to do this so that you do not intrude on the following player's time. **Please sweep the court with drag broom from side to side in large ovals parallel to net, including areas between sidelines and fences. This helps to prevent build-up of slate cote in the area. Also, please run the line brush in the direction from the net to the

baseline.

 

The court will be closed for an hour's watering at midday. When it has rained and the court is wet, a second lock will be attached. This will be removed only when the court is dry enough for play.

 

Weekdays from 10-12:00 noon are reserved for the recreational program instruction. Teenagers as well as adults may sign up to play from 1-4 p.m. Adult hours are from 7-10 a.m. and 1 p.m. until dark daily, and all day on weekends. Children are not to use the court during those hours unless playing an adult member.

Anne Patterson is "the" Committee.  She does a fine job; however could certainly use assistance in overseeing our court.
