Joseph Evans (Bing) Arborio
 
Evans (Bing) Arborio, 80, of Wethersfield, husband of Margaret (Quinlan) Arborio passed away at home Thursday (June 3, 2010). Son of Edith (Evans) Arborio and Joseph E. Arborio, Bing grew up in Hartford and attended Weaver High School and graduated from Cheshire Academy. Graduating in 1953 from RPI a brother of Alpha Chi Rho; meeting his wife of 54 years in Watervliet, New York. He was president of Arborio Corporation and Charter Oak Utility Constructors Inc.
 
During his career Bing successfully built many road, bridge and utility projects throughout New York and New England. Bing was a past chairman of the board of the Connecticut Construction Industries Association and a past president of Connecticut Road Builders Association. He was honored by the construction industry in 2003 on the 70th anniversary of the Connecticut Road Builders Association. He was a past director of CBIA, Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce and Mount Sinai Hospital in Hartford. He also served as a trustee of the Operating Engineers Local #478 Health Fund. Bing was appointed to the State Board of Mediation and Arbitration by Governor Meskill and continued his service under Governors Grasso and O'Neil. He was appointed to the Connecticut Employment & Training Commission by Governor Weicker. He served as a member of the Liberty Mutual Advisory Board and was a member of Wethersfield Country Club. He was a member of the board of governors of Giants Neck Beach Association. He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Jesters.
 
He is survived by Peter Arborio and his wife Karen, Timothy Arborio and his wife Suzanne, Susan Yankus, Joseph Arborio and his wife Alison. He leaves seven grandchildren, Douglas Arborio, Alyse Arborio, Joseph Yankus, William Yankus, Kristen Arborio, Ryan Arborio and John Arborio. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Peter H. Arborio.
 
Bing requested that any donations be made to The Shriner's Hospitals for Children, Office of Development 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Fl 33607.
 
At his request there will be no calling hours and all funeral arrangements are private. The family will receive friends on Tuesday June 8th, from 2-5 p.m. at Wethersfield Country Club, Country Club Rd. Wethersfield.

Joe was an active member in the Association, previously serving on the Zoning Commission and Board of Governors.  He also volunteered his services and equipment for the benefit of GNBA projects, such as the Club House Playscape.
