Middle and High School Space Needs

The Rye City School District is facing a major challenge, with lack of adequate space at our Middle and High School building and student enrollments at or above maximum capacity for this facility.

Enrollment is projected to increase

Enrollment projections are that there will be between 1746-1873 pupils in grades 6-12 over the next five years. Current enrollment is 1645.

By 2020, the Middle/High School building will be above its capacity levels

By 2020 or sooner, the building is estimated to be at 96-103% operational capacity and 106-115% functional capacity.

More classrooms are needed

Dr. Paul M. Seversky, a consultant for the District who has investigated the facility capacities, reported to the Board of Education on June 21, 2011 that the building NEEDS 8-16 more classrooms.
