A Summary of the 12/7/10 Rye City School District Board of Education Meeting

 
Superintendent's Report

At each meeting, the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Shine, provides a report to the Board and community.  At this meeting Dr. Shine shared the following information: nine fall Rye Garnet teams qualified for Scholar/Athlete team awards; student holiday efforts to give to others have been very successful in each of our schools; and the schedule of holiday concerts that will occur over the coming two weeks.

Report on High School Principal Search

Dr. Charles Fowler, the consultant who is working with the district to conduct the search for a new RHS principal, presented the methodology and timeline for the search process.

Report on Fiscal Constraints and Challenges

School Business Official Kathleen Ryan reported on the fiscal contraints and challenges that will effect the upcoming 2011-2012 budget.

Open Topics Forum

Josh Nathan asked Dr. Shine to review all items shared with Board members at the small group meetings with parents and other community members and to present the highlights and priorities from the Forum at the 12/21 Board of Education meeting.
