Fall FestivitesOctober 2, 2011
Greetings!

Spotted Drum Bonaire 2008
Spotted Drum. One of my favorite Caribbean species.
A few of you know the story. Al and I were watching the sun set from a verandy on Boggy Sands Road at the north end of Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman in late 1994. I had just earned my PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor Rating, Al was a Master Scuba Diver Trainer. We were excited to return to the Salem area and begin teaching scuba with our friend Keith.

As we waited for the Green Flash we pondered opening a dive shop in Salem. We must have seen the Green Flash. In January 1997, after recruiting and teaching independently for two years, I left my full time job selling Trimble GPS equipment to the land surveyors in the Northwest and dedicated myself to serving the needs of divers and soon to be divers. HydroSports opened early in June 1997 and has been focused on your diving goals and dreams every day.

Last year I partnered with Steve Camden, a long time friend and PADI Instructor and formed Albany Scuba LLC to serve the needs of divers in the Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon and Sweet Home areas. Steve's dedication, and that of his wife Holly, have enabled Albany Scuba to bloom. This coming weekend, Albany Scuba has so many divers going to Hoodsport that they are filling the Yellow House.

What's coming next? We have some great ideas with your interests in mind.

Next month I'll be traveling to the Dive Equipment Marketing Association annual convention, the largest gathering of dive industry professionals, products and travel opportunties of the year. What do want me to investigate for you? Tri-mix? Video lights? Live aboard trips to Palau? Let me know and I'll report at the November Dive Club meeting.

Sincerely,

Join Ryan, Ken and Mark at Sund Rock for fun dives, Adventure Dives, Specialty Dives or the Advanced Open Water Diver or Rescue Diver course dives.

We have special rates on rooms at the Waterfront at Potlatch. Dive conditions improve as the days get shorter and the algae dies off.
