Shop, Give and Buy Locally | Holiday Season 2010 |
|
Greetings!
As we approach the biggest shopping day of the season, please remind your friends, family and colleagues of the importance of supporting local businesses. Use your emails and social networks to promote this message. As a Willamette Valley resident, this encouragement will mean a lot coming from you.
Businesses outside the Salem region do not support our schools, transportation infrastructure or charitable social services. Purchases from outside businesses -- rather than local ones -- increase the financial load at home. When you choose to "shop local," you're buying where dollars are more likely to come back to your family, your friends and your neighbors.
HydroSports is thankful for your on-going support. Thank you for supporting our local business community!
Sincerely,
Mark Fischer HydroSports Dive and Travel 503-304-5383

DEMA Report
Annual Dive Industry Trade Show Overview |
Every year the world wide diving community meets at the Dive Equipment Marketing Association trade show. Equipment manufacturers, retailers, training agencies, publishers, travel destinations, charter boat operators, resorts and instructors meet to share ideas, look at new products, plan travel excursions and share one another's view in the crystal ball that is our collective future.
What caught my eye this year? New l.e.d. technology will make underwater lights brighter and burn longer. Underwater GPS (no wires) is nearly here. Gear bags and BCDs are becoming lighter and more air-travel friendly. Color displays on dive computers (albeit high end computers) are becoming more common. Travel destinations are competing vigorously for our business. Equipment manufactrurers are creating value-priced equipment packages. Online dive computer training is becoming very widespread. Digital underwater cameras are everywhere and at every price point. Sidemount is becoming a common theme. Dive propulsion vehicles are more affordable.
I shipped 40 pounds of product catalogues to the shop. Come by to look at the new equipment, tools and toys! |
Support our Troops
Operation Love Boxes For Our Troops |
As the holiday season kicks into high gear at home it is vital that we remember and honor the women and men of our armed forces who put their lives on the line every day to insure our freedom and safety.
Operation Love Boxes for Our Troops was started in Salem at Ned Baker Real Estate and works to remind our troops that those of us enjoying the blessings of life and liberty remember their dedication and contributions.
Join me Wednesday night, December 1, from 6 to 8 PM to fill Love Boxes. Bring encouraging notes, goodies, music CD's, books on CD, games, magazines, etc. Also hard candy, school supplies, tooth brushes and personal hygiene items are handed out to the local children.
Use your IMAGINATION! Nothing is discarded, everything is used. DO NOT BRING ITEMS THAT WILL MELT OR SPOIL IN THE 7-10 DAYS IT TAKES TO GET TO THE SOLDIER. We'll pack as many boxes as possible and ship them to Salem area service members currently serving in Iraq or Afganastan.
I'll have refreshments for everyone who comes to the shop to assist.
If you cannot join us Monday, December 1, please send me $10 and I'll go shopping for you. |
Greetings!

Black Friday at HydroSports
Come to the shop and name your price (we have to agree of course). |
Did I mention Black Friday?
Did I mention that I shipped 40 pounds of SCUBA Industry catalogues to the shop from the DEMA show? I'm expecting the catalogues to arrive Friday morning, tomorrow, Black Friday.
Deliveries from DEMA orders began arriving this week. I received four huge boxes from Cressi on Wendesday. I'm expecting orders from Oceanic, Underwater Kinetics, Blue Steel (Faber cylinders), Dive Caddy, Bonica, McNett, Storm, Pelican, Sherwood, Zeagle, H2Odyssey, XSScuba and more to begin rolling in over the next week.
Blue Steel (Faber cylinders) is offering big savings on steel cylinders through November 26. If you've been considering the purchase of low pressure (2640 psi) or high pressure (3442 psi or 3500 psi) cylinders, call the shop Friday or Saturday for details. This sale ends Saturday, November 26 at 5 PM.
I'll begin posting specials to the shop website daily through the holiday season. Specials can be found by clicking HERE. HydroSports sells Gift Certificates in any size you'd like. Gift Certificates have no expiration date.
If our vendors sell it, it's on sale. If I don't sell it directly, my friends in the dive industry do. Let HydroSports help you fulfill your diving goals and dreams. |
