The Healing Power of an Open Heart Selection 1
Your relationship with yourself has become
rather stylized. You have
certain ideas about who you, what you are capable of and what your
weaknesses are. These may not be true
weaknesses, but some kind of indoctrinated weaknesses that have caused you to
believe something about yourself that is untrue. Since we are really talking about healing
here, it is important to understand that the mind/body discussion that we had
quite recently bears a relationship to this misunderstanding that you have
between your body and your mind. That misunderstanding damages your opportunity for
higher development. This relationship
that you have with yourself is almost always in a form of struggle.

Selection 2
You have less love energy than you need flowing freely in
your body and mind. What would it be
like to feel from the bottom of your feet to the top of your head, fingers,
elbows, even behind the ears, that there is a free flowing love that is
everything that you need? This
circulation of love energy is absolutely vital for your health. It is not something that is just a nicety, like "It
would be so nice if we had enough love. It would be so lovely." You cannot
be healthy without it. It's just like a circulating pump of love energy.

Selection 3
From a Tibetan
Buddhist point of view, talking about love energy makes me feel really weird.
(laughter). I am so sorry, but I know
that this is something that you need to hear, and so I am shouting over this
cultural difficulty that I am having. This is like really weird and woo-woo for us, and all
squishy-wishy. However, I am setting
aside my own personal views regarding this particular subject because I know
that this is something that you need in order to have good health.
If we lived in a perfect society where, for example, you
lived in a family unit that had 20 or 30 or 50 members, you
would have a kind of interaction with others in your family, and you would feel
connected and loved. In our Tibetan society, whether we lived in a
monastery or whether we lived in a family unit, we always felt that there was
enough of this everywhere. We never
thought about it. But in your society, your families are small. You live alone, and you do not have all the
love that you need. There are not enough
grandmas to hug us all!
This love energy provides psychological well-being which
is connected to certain levels of your outer health. It helps you to feel validated, to feel
welcome, to have confidence, to feel like you do not need to hide, if you want
to look at it that way. These are all
ways of saying that there is less love energy than you need flowing freely.
