Aloha (Contact First Name),
Welcome and Aloha once again to all our Single Gourmet Hawaii members and friends! Our membership is growing and we can't wait to meet all of you. Our September Events were many and varied. We continue to learn what our members would like. The members are requesting more Friday's and Saturday's I hear. And so, this month we are trying the new days! Show us how much you agree by attending more events everyone!

October events include Octoberfest at the Ala Moana Hotel! If you have never done this, here is your chance; it's a blast. A whole lot of strange dancing, and a whole lot of food!

Just a reminder: We need our members to understand they must sign up for events at least a week ahead of an event to help us better schedule with our event sites for reservations, etc. Please sign up under the EVENTS tab on our website. Sorry, we can not allow members to just drop-in to attend any event. It isn't fair to those that have signed up in the regular way.

Now be sure to let at least one single friend know about Single Gourmet Hawaii, or treat a friend to an event as a guest for $20! We would love to have them join in. Did you know gift certificates are also available! Just let us know by phone call or email and we can supply one for you! We can even email one directly to your friend with a greeting from you!

Remember to email us with your thoughts and ideas if you like. Our membership is everything, so you have a voice. Let us know what you like, and give us ideas on how to improve our dining club. It's your club! We want to fill it with your Aloha!.

Mahalo!

Who are the Single Gourmet Hawaii Hosts?

As you may know, we have a Single Gourmet Hawaii Host attend each event we have. They are there to help you feel more comfortable and to introduce you to other event goers and to help you feel at ease with your dining experience with us. They are hand chosen. Each has special interests that may be of interest to our members. They all must love people, know how to make an event fun, and  want to be at the location (they choose the events they want to host).

Meet Leina!
Our greatest Helper!

Leinaala, a soft spoken and gentle soul. Leina is happily married, a dedicated mom, and she holds 2 jobs; plus is currently attending HCC, and lives the farthest awayLeina 1 from town!

That doesn't hold Leina back from hosting so many of our events! I don't know how she finds the time!

Thank you Leina for all you do for SGHI!

Have you heard our new Single Gourmet Hawaii Radio Ads?

That's right, Dorothy and I have cut our 1st commercial which airs on "the smooth jazz station"  KORL 101.1 FM that started September 15th. We love the music, and this station fit our demographics perfectly, plus it was very affordable. They are great people, so give Bonnie a call if you need help promoting your company or business! Dinner at Murphy's Bar and Grill
Hosted by:
Followed by A Honolulu Ghost Tour
Presented by Steven Fredrick.

Murphy's Bar & Grill is a traditional downtown saloon/eatery located in the Honolulu Financial District. Just one block off the waterfront, Murphy's has been a haven for mariners, businessmen and locals since 1891. Serving "comfort food", that includes steak, fresh fish, burgers, and daily specials, Murphy's has won several awards and is a favorite among the locals. It was opened in 1987 when Don Murphy purchased what was then the Royal Hawaiian Saloon. From the outside, it looks like a place you would find in San Francisco or New Orleans.  When you walk inside, there is a small bar with a few bar stools.  Very old looking bar with a vintage cash register.

The Honolulu Ghost Tour presented by Steven Fredrick.
Ghosts and spirits have been a part of Hawaiian folklore for decades. One can not tell a good ghost story without having knowledge about the history of Hawaii and its people.  It is the intention of this storyteller to provide our guests with an understanding of the Hawaiian culture in order to appreciate the power of the ghost stories of Hawaii.

The Honolulu Ghost Tour is a one and-a-half mile walk to haunted sites and mystical places in downtown Honolulu and Chinatown.  Paranormal activities are known to occur at several of the sites visited.

Our tour visits haunted locations where ghosts and spirits, such as Night Marchers, are known to roam.  The tour visits famous landmarks, like Iolani Palace, and ordinary office buildings, where horrible murders occurred.  This walking tour includes a rest stop at a haunted bar.

Researching Hawaii's rich history has been a part of Steve's life since his relocation to the islands in 1994. Since April 2007 Steve has been taking guests on ghostly walking tours to haunted sights in downtown Honolulu.  The Honolulu Ghost Tour, which combines Hawaiian history with local ghost stories, is popular with both locals and tourists alike. Among Steve's heroes was Glen Grant, the creator of the Honolulu Ghost Walks.  "Glen was a special man.  A very unique storyteller.  I took one of Glen's ghost tours and just loved it."  Shortly after their meeting, Glen and Steve discussed the possibility of combining their interests for a haunted movie tour of Oahu.  Unfortunately, this never came to be due to Grant's death.

Cost is $25 per person for the tour, which includes a $5 reservation fee. You pay for your own dinner and beverages, plus tax and gratuity expense. Because space is limited to 10 people, this offer is only for Single Gourmet Members!

Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. Please, no slippers folks!
This will be a great Single Gourmet Event and will get you ready for Halloween!
