President Obama Signs Creating Hope Act

According to the Congressional Childhood Cancer Caucus, the Creating Hope Act was introduced to "...incentivize pharmaceutical companies to develop new drugs for rare pediatric diseases, such as childhood cancers, that have not been developed in decades because they are not profitable."

We were excited to learn that, on Monday, July 10, 2012, President Obama signed the Creating Hope Act as part of the Food & Drug Reauthorization Act of 2012!  Click here to read more.

Corn Mazin' for a Cause!

Cagle's Family FarmWhile most are familiar with Cagle's Family Farm in Canton, GA, BTFC staff didn't become acquainted with the owners until January of this year when we reached out to Cagle's Family Farm to ask a special favor for one of our special kids, Ana Hardt, who was facing the end stages of her battle with brain tumor disease. Thanks to Cagle's and their connections, sweet Ana - a cow lover all her life - was provided the gift of a mini farm in her own front yard for a few hours on a sunny afternoon.

That was just the beginning of Cagle's extraordinary generosity to our BTFC families. This year a portion of the profits earned during their 2012 fall corn maze season will be donated to BTFC! We're SO excited that they are also going to include our logo in the corn maze design AND provide free tickets to our BTFC kids and families.

So, if you haven't been to Cagle's Family Farm or were just thinking about making the trip this year, you DEFINITELY have a great reason to go! And if you come out on Labor Day weekend, you'll see BTFC staff, families and volunteers floating around ALL weekend!

Established in 1983 in Atlanta, GA, the Brain Tumor Foundation for Children was the first non-profit organization in the United States to focus on pediatric brain tumor disease. The Foundation's mission is: "To provide financial assistance, social support, and information for families of children with brain and spinal cord tumors; fund research projects that improve treatment options and search for a cure; and raise public awareness of the disease and advocate on behalf of children who are affected." BTFC serves children and families throughout Georgia and the Southeast. Our south Florida chapter, Christina's Kidz, is dedicated to helping Florida families.
