Dear Shareholders,

I want to thank each of you who voted or entered our March or April My Colorado Project monthly contests.  Because of you, a new giving community committed to grassroots organization is sprouting up and changing the way we think about giving in our lives.

In March, I watched as the contest winner wasn't decided until ten minutes to midnight.  As the date turned to April 1, the enthusiasm for the first contest left me both sleepy and bewildered!  Grassroots organization, the outreach of many individual voices, left me inspired and empowered.

The April contest is in its final few days, ending as the clock strikes midnight on May Day. This month's contest is in recognition of National Child Abuse Awareness Month and represents some of Community Shares' most endearing organizations, VSA Access Gallery, The Adoption Exchange, The Kempe Foundation for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect, and Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado.

Coloradans just like you chose these organizations and have self-organized efforts through social media, email, and word of mouth, to bring home the $500 prize. The entries created on www.mycoloradoproject.org

have rapidly expanded the reach of each nonprofit to more than 8,000 Coloradans and ushered in hundreds of new users.

With 4 days left, please vote for as many entries as you like and help support the grassroots efforts of Coloradans! A few of the leaders are shared below.

Vote here!

Happy spring to you and yours,

Jason Manke, Media Director and My Colorado Project Manager

My Colorado ProjectAll Kids Love to Make Art

For: VSA Arts of Colorado

Remember when you were young and the teacher would ask,"Who here is an artist."  And all the kids would raise their hand.  Our young people love to create art work and we like to help them do it!

My Colorado ProjectAriana Needs a Home

For: The Adoption Exchange

Ariana is in foster care and needs a home. Playing with dolls or Polly Pockets are some of this girly-girl's favorite things to do. This second grader also enjoys singing and dancing to High School Musical and playing dress-up.  She's not all about being inside, though-she loves to get some fresh air riding her bike.
