Community Shares thanks Colorado Capital Bank for their support of e-Community.
CEO Alyssa KopfDear Friends,

I suspect I am not alone in feeling amazed we are already mid-way through November!  The pace of this year has gotten the best of me at times but luckily it's not too late to slow down and enjoy the final weeks of 2009.

It's the time of year when we roll up our sleeves and bake pies, cakes, latkas, cookies, honey cakes, baklava, and other familiar desserts that made sense at some point in our family's history.  Ingredients go in and (usually) something great comes out.

It works the same when you are trying to make a great day.  What you put into your day determines what comes out.  If you were going to bake a perfect day, what ingredients would you put in?

When it comes to the Community Shares annual Community Giving Campaign, we know what we get out depends upon what we put in.  The contributions of our worksite coordinators, member agencies, and Giving Ambassadors are essential ingredients.  Every dollar (and every ingredient) makes a difference!

We've included recipes from a few members of the Community Shares family below.  Slow down and think for a minute about the ingredients you want to put into each day.

Read my recipe for a good day on the CShares Cookbook and post your own - we want to know your secret happiness ingredients so we can add some new spice to our day!

Happy Thanksgiving,
Alyssa Kopf Signature

+ We've included a couple recipes below to get you started!
Jason's Humble Pie

Description: This humble recipe achieves a nice balance of flavors, but don't get too heavy on any one ingredient or you'll find that you're missing the taste you're looking for in the end.

All Ingredients must be 100% Certified Local.

1 ¼ Cups Rosewater: During the frenetic pace of the holiday season, take some time to stop and smell the roses.  Beauty is everywhere if you can just stop to recognize it! (By The Way - if you're thinking hard about whether to click on that link, please consider the fact that it won the Pulitzer prize for Journalism in 2008.)

3 Cups of Tea: If you're thinking of gifts for your loved ones, please consider this book.

1½ Steps Back: When you find yourself confused, angry, or upset this holiday, take a step back and view your challenge from afar. Remember that the recipe for Foot in Mouth is one of the most unpleasant tasting concoctions.

¾ Teaspoon Humor: A good laugh goes a long way especially when it is at yourself.

Mix together and bake at 350 degrees.  If you find your pie to lack the proper lift, you might find your house lacking in humility - adjust the thermostat accordingly.

Leftovers: There isn't anything better than Thanksgiving leftovers!  The kids will love to take the rest home.  Eat slowly and prepare the remainder for the next generation!

Community Shares of ColoradoCampaign Champion Chocolate Chip Cookies

Description: This simple recipe is what we hand out to our supporters every fall.  This is Community Shares' recipe for success!

Ingredients:

2 ¼ cups Our
.  Take ownership of the campaign.  It's not the Community Shares giving the campaign - it's about your company and what matters most to your employees.
2 sticks of Better.  What's better than delivering a pledge form via mail?  Handing them out face to face.  The #1 reason people say they didn't give is "no one asked."
2 large Eggscellent Speakers. Invite us to bring a guest speaker to a staff meeting - it has a big influence on people's likelihood to give.
¾ cup Sugar. Take time to deliver a personal thank you to your co-workers who give.  We can't be there to say thanks; you are our giving ambassador.
1 tsp Pledge Form Extract.  Don't forget to collect the pledges!
1 cup Chocolate Chips.  Analyze business efficiency until the end of time - chocolate will retain its ROI on motivation.
1 cup Nuts.  Don't be afraid to go a little crazy!  Enthusiasm is contagious.

Bake at 375 for the two weeks of your giving campaign or until done.  Serve gratefully!
