If you love the beach - Volunteer Here
|
|
A great way to give back.
San Diego has great beaches! If we are just visiting or we grew up here, most of us have a deep love for the area. Having a volleyball background and growing up in Solana Beach, my love has grown over the years, and since 2002 I have given back by helping with the beach volleyball and basketball court maintenance at South Mission Beach. I created San Diego Beach Improvement Group as a way for all of you to join in this effort of doing something good for the beach area that everyone will enjoy and appreciate.
San Diego BIG is a non-profit organization and we need your help to build up our membership and support systems, make decisions as a group and move into 2009 making progress on the business side and creating great events.
As a volunteer you will learn about running a business, events, marketing, public relations, negotiations and more. We also need help at single events, such as beach clean ups, event day volunteers and more.
Please join us at our upcoming meetings or contact us directiy for more information and to sign up. 619-888-6743.

Cold Rain and Wind - Not a typical California Day
Smiling faces abounded as we kicked off the 22nd annual Polar Bear Classic Draw Volleyball Tournament. With fresh fruit, muffins, sweatshirts and warm coffee to start the day, 74 teams were partnered up to play beach volleyball. George Stephanoff awarded his Sportsman of the Year award to Tom Hoyer for his dedication to the sport over the last 30 years and the Sportswoman of the Year to Julie Chan for her ever enthusiastic smiles as she has gone through some tough physical trials this year and still managed to win Estero Beach and do well with her teams in the Manhattan and San Diego six-man tournaments.
