Opinions on what to improve in Mission Beach
Mission Beach is our first area of focus for making
improvements. Trash, recycling and keeping this area
clean seems to be the concern of not only the
residents but also the City of San Diego. Pilot
programs to recycle have started, but the growing
awareness of living GREEN have left residents
questioning where they can go to recycle and do their
part in saving the planet.

Summer Highlights

BBQ, Fundraiser, Volleyball Camps and more
Adopt-a-Court campaign has been a success! 12 new
nets will arrive in early June! Thanks to Bill Walton,
Clem Abrams, Maygan Fowler and many more that
contributed, these court will be renewed for the
summer and beyond. A BIG thank you to all that
helped with the repainting of the poles in April! Come
celebrate with us on June 8th with a BBQ at 12 noon
at the courts.
Summer is a great time of year to celebrate the beach
and everything going on there. Please review our
events and join the festivities, contribute to making the
beach better and keep in touch with friends, family and
everybody who loves Mission Beach. Our goal this
year it to make sure the beach stays clean and help
the community with their recycling program.
A few things to look for: Beach BBQ in June at South
Mission Beach (Jetty Dr-beach side), summer
volleyball camps and clinics, listening to some great
live music at our fundraiser, July 11th, at the
WaveHouse, BBQ and bon fire in August, and our
famous San Diego Six-Man Volleyball BeachFest in
October.

Coach of the Month - King and Ambassador to Beach Volleyball
The most experienced elite player in the world, Smith
has won over 146 tournament throughout his career.
President of the FIVB World Beach Volleyball Council,
he was also the second volleyball player to be
inducted into UCLA Sports Hall of Fame. Smith
focuses on ways to improve your beach volleyball
game with tips and training techniques. San Diego
BIG members have direct email access to ask Sinjin
questions. Youth camps are offered from LA to San
Diego - Sign up by June 1st and get 10% off!
