AA Year in Review: 2011|A Look Ahead 2012

A new year is a time for renewal, reflection and the promise of new opportunities. Our annual Year in Review brings you some of the best highlights of 2011, including a special exhibition with Cancio Contemporary during Art Basel, Miami, the 337 Project and UMOCA public art extravaganza with Bell's interlopers, live painting performances in Denver and Salt Lake City. 2011 was the year of demand for John's work at fundraising events, all work sold at auctions at UMOCA, The Rape Recovery Center, HRC, March of Dimes, YWCA, and The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

We capped 2011 as one of the most successful years to date for art sales. The support of collectors, dealers, gallerists, art organizations and friends who have and continue to engage in an art dialogue with John, attend shows and read these emails, we simply say THANK YOU!

In 2012 and beyond; Bell's exhibition schedule is full with shows at Nox Contemporary (be part of the show at Nox, FACES WANTED,) UMOCA, Brett Wesley Gallery and BYU Museum of Art, spring 2013. Watch for show details and schedule next month.

In June Bell wanted privacy in a very public way with the creation of 'interlopers',  presented by UMOCA and The 337 Project. 'Interlopers', a departure from Bell's medium was received with rave reviews from both the organizers of the exhibition and collectors.

PortraitsPortraits without Faces at Nox Contemporary; Faces wanted

For his upcoming March show at Nox Contemporary, John needs people to photograph for his installation, Portraits without Faces. Using facial masks, he asks sitters to pose with the mask covering their faces, "it's interesting to see what comes through when you take away someone's face, the results are never what you think", says Bell. Please contact John direct if you're interested in sitting for a photograph - john@artistjohnbell.com ph: 801.556.9904.
