the white swan 30" x 44" archival print

The 3rd Annual Shoe-In program is a juried competition open to Utah artists sponsored by the Ballet West Ambassadors. Artists are given a pair of pointe shoes literally or figuratively to create an orignal piece of art in the medium of their choice. The art will be auctioned at Partners in Dance fundraiser as well as two other events which will conclude in early spring. All proceeds benefit Ballet West programming.

Bell's the white swan (pictured right) is a one-of-a-kind, meticulously layered archival print. Images of dancers in classical performance poses and the central pointe shoes are demonstrative of his hallmark pop influenced style. An Omni present white swan appears to be morphing into human form - or is it a human form morphing into a swan?

Special thanks to our artistic sponsors whose energy and talent are unsurpassed.

BALLET WEST TO HOLD 24TH ANNUAL PARTNERS IN DANCE

One-night-only event offers way to entertain clients while supporting a good cause

SALT LAKE CITY - January 12, 2011 - On Thursday, February 10, Ballet West and the Ballet West Ambassadors will host the 24th annual "Partners In Dance"event to raise funds and bring about awareness for Ballet West's education and outreach programs.  The event is also an opportunity to recognize the business community that so generously supports Ballet West.

During Ballet West's "Partners In Dance,"guests will enjoy a pre-performance dinner and silent auction, followed by a private, final dress rehearsal of one of Ballet West's most popular offerings - The Sleeping Beauty - in perfect time for Valentine's Day. Newly conceived and produced by Ballet West Artistic Director Adam Sklute, this timeless tale of a sleeping princess, a handsome prince, and the triumph of good over evil is set to Tchaikovsky's soaring music with spectacular sets and costumes designed by Peter Cazalet.

The event will also include the 3rd annual Shoe-in program, a juried art competition featuring twelve Utah artists who have created works inspired by ballet point shoes. Using gems, wood, beadwork, twisted metal and more, local Utah artists have transformed ordinary satin pointe shoes into stunning works of art - one-of-a-kind creations that will be available for purchas that evening.

The pre-performance dinner will take place at the Hilton Salt Lake City, 255 South West Temple, followed by the final dress rehearsal of The Sleeping Beauty at the Capitol Theatre, 50 West 200 South.
