Salt Lake City, Utah - Phillips Gallery Salt Lake City presents; "5 x 5",  a group exhibition featuring 5 works by 5 artists hailed by Salt Lake Magazine as "Five Utah Artists On The Rise."  Featured editorial of each artist can be seen in the Sept. /Oct. issue; October 17th - November 14th, artist and opening reception downstairs in Phillips Dibble gallery Friday October 17th from 6-9 p.m. during Salt Lake Gallery Stroll. Free and open to the public.

Exhibiting artists include: Heather Barron, widely known for her images of graceful and pensive female figures in rich dark colors and thickly applied oil on board. John Bell's work combines abstract expressionism with geometric abstraction on large dimensional canvases. Bell employs multiple disciplines including silk screened, pop art images using thematic cues about identity, social issues, beauty and human loss.  Lindey Carter a relativenewcomer to the Utah art scene is a watercolorist and landscape painter whose works are diminutive (some measuring 5"x 5") and intriguingly simple yet potent. Annie Kennedy's work is largely inspired by her Mormon roots. She employs unusual mediums such as grape juice, olive oil and other edible materials to create works on paper and sculpture. She uses found and self-made objects to create large installation pieces. Annie is a participating artist of the ground breaking 337 Project. David Maestas is an abstract expressionist who's Hispanic and Native American roots inform his work. Maestas paintings are ethereal and richly hued with earth tones evident of his spiritual connection of Northern New Mexico where he was born.

Five artists' five distinct styles and voices; this exhibition is not to be missed. It will feature work for art enthusiasts and collectors alike.
