| Dear EDH Resident,
It's that time again, we're winding down the summer months and getting ready for back to school with fall activities and special events. Our Summer Concert series was a big hit this year with attendance rockin' and rollin' to an all time high. The grand finale, Saturday Night in the Park, was a phenomenal event with approximately 5,000 kids and adults attending this spectacular organized for all ages. A special thanks to Marni Francisco-Cady, CSD Recreation Director and her wonderful staff and the awesome Parks Department crew for making our summer evenings so fantastic and fun!
In this Back to School issue we're sharing ideas with you and your families, from healthy lunches to fun activities that can stretch out those last days of summer. There are many new classes and events being offered this fall--check them out in our new Fall Activity Guide! Questions about CSD services and any upcoming issues can be answered by accessing our website www.edhcsd.org or e-mailing us. Best wishes to you and your families--have a safe fall, hope to see you on the sports fields!

Kindergarten Readiness -- NEW!
We're excited to introduce a new "Kindergarten Readiness" program. "There's increasing evidence that children gain a lot from going to preschool," says Parents advisor Kathleen McCartney, Ph.D., Dean of Harvard Graduate School of Education, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. "At preschool, they become exposed to numbers, letters, and shapes. And, more important, they learn how to socialize -- get along with other children, share, contribute to circle time."
In addition to socializing your preschooler and introducing the importance of recreation, we will be taking all of the steps necessary to get them ready for Kindergarten.
