Hello Special Olympics Vermont fans,
What a summer this has been! We were fortunate enough to have over 700 athletes and partners compete at our Summer Games in Burlington, we sent a team of 45 athletes, coaches and partners to the National Games in Lincoln, NE, held a successful State Golf Tournament (results) and we continue to shape communities. Our coaches, volunteers and staff are working incredibly hard to set up for our Fall Sports competition and Unified Sports Conference, amongst many other worthy endeavors.
We are very proud to share with you our 2009 Annual Report. We believe that this is a huge step for our organization to share all of our success and highlight those that make it all possible.
As our busy season ramps back up, we invite you to keep in touch. We continually update our Flickr photos and encourage you to add to them If you ever have anything that you'd like to see added to the enewsletter or are simply looking to talk Special Olympics shop, give us a call or send us an email. I know that we'd all be delighted to hear from you.
Sincerely, SOVT Staff Bill, Donna, Chris, Kim and Karen

Giving Back with Alec Grab
Philanthropy is defined by Dictionary.com as "altruistic
concern
for
human
welfare
and
advancement,
usually
manifested
by
donations
of
money,
property,
or
work
to
needy
persons." Alec Grab of Underhill, who is a student at Brown's River Middle School, continues to demonstrate for all of us what giving back means. For those of you not familiar with Alec, he has organized a fundraising bike ride to support Special Olympics Vermont for the past two years, while donating over $6,000. He is a remarkable young man and is a great catalyst to encourage giving back to your community in whatever capacity you can. This winter he is also looking to get involved in coaching alpine skiing. Way to go Alec and the other riders that participated. |
