Athlete Story
"My name is Joanne O'Brian. I have been in Special Olympics for 30 years. I do bowling, bocce; I used to do swimming. Not any more, I tried something new. I am going to try snowshoeing. I also do soccer.
I see my friends like Donna, Gabe, Bill and Judy. They are nice people and good friends.
I like Special Olympics so I can see my friends. My favorite sport is bowling."

Greetings!
The first quarter of 2010 has been extremely busy for Special Olympics Vermont. We witnessed a 38% increase in participation at our Winter Games, raised more than $350,000 at our Penguin Plunges and continue to shape communities throughout Vermont. We would like to thank everyone involved with Special Olympics Vermont. Our success is not be possible without all of your support. As our athlete numbers continue to grow, we will have to find additional support. If you haven't done so already, please consider making a donation or volunteering. We can assure you that your time and money go a long way to support our 850+ athletes. Sincerely, SOVT Staff Bill, Donna, Kim, Chris and Karen

VSECU Donates Frost Heaves Tickets
VSECU donated 30 tickets to two separate games for SOVT athletes. The games were held in Burlington and Barre and one of our athletes served as the Community All Star for the Burlington game. This allowed him to sit on the bench with the Frost Heaves, wear an official jersey and shoot free throws to raise funds for his program.

Scarf Project
Patty Pasley contacted the SOVT office in Williston in late November about helping out with our upcoming Winter Games. Her relatives had told her that they were busy knitting scarves for another Special Olympics program. Patty decided that she would do the same for her fellow Vermonters. With high hopes of being able to gather 350 scarves, she was a bit skeptical.
Much to her surprise, we received more than 800 scarves from 15 different states. A huge thank you to Patty for organizing and all of the knitters that made this project a huge success.
