Special Offer: Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2008 Pre-Sale

cloudy bay sauvignon blanc
The newest vintage of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc is on it's way to New York!  Since this wine is so highly allocated (meaning there's never enough to go around), it's typically not subject to mixed and full case discounts.

But I'm going to make an exception just this once - and offer the wine on a pre-release basis with a 10% discount on purchases of one case (12 bottles) or more.

Regular price: $28.99/bottle = $348/case + tax
Pre-sale pricing: $26/bottle = $313/case + tax

The wine is expected to arrive in the next couple weeks.  Delivery is complimentary to addresses within Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Credit card info is required to hold your order, but you will not be charged until the wine is in the shop.  Please email: info@franklywines.com to place your order.
This Week's 3 Pack: A Box of Bubblies
Given the stock market's free-fall, you may think there's nothing to celebrate.  But that's OK, because drinking something bubbly doesn't require a celebration.  And a box full of bottles full of tiny bubbles may just cheer you up for a bit - even if they can't do anything about the balance of your 401K.
tiny bubbles
Val d'Oca Prosecco (Veneto, France):  Prosecco is the ultimate easy-drinking bubbly.  It's fresh, fruity, and doesn't require a lot of thought.  It's hard to worry too much with a glass of Prosecco in your hand.  Regular price: $12.99

Medici Ermete Solo Reggiano (Emilia-Romagna, Italy):  Yes, it's red, but who said a red wine couldn't sparkle too!  This one is made from the Lambrusco grape.  It's very lightly sparkling and while it's not sweet, it is loaded with fresh berry fruit flavor.  It can make even a pizza seem special   Regular price: $14.99

Jean-Marc Villemaine Pineau d'Aunis Rosé (Touraine, France): Pineau d'Aunis is a grape that is usually used for blending purposes.  But it can also stand on it's own - as in this well-priced rosé sparkler.  And it is tasty, with nice berry fruit balanced by a green-apple crispness and a little spicy kick on the finish.  Regular price $15.99

Special 3-Pack Pricing: $38.99 (Regular price: $43.97)
Wine You Never Knew You Needed

schwarzbock muskateller label

Schwarzbock Gelber Muskateller 2007  (Weinviertel, Austria):
Gelber Muskateller, also known as Muskateller, or Muscat, is usually used to make sweet wines.  But this one is dry - and it is absolutely perfect for the sort of extended summer weather we're seeing.  I usually write my own wine descriptions, but in this case, the distributor does such a good job I'll just borrow their words:

"...insanely delicious wine, scratching itches you didn't know you had until they were scratched; it's utterly loveable with tons of "inside"-sweetness and a whole mouthful of liquid potpourri; gorgeous shimmery spice and length and all of 11.5% alc; it swells on the palate and finishes with a whole fruit-basket of nuance."

I don't know excatly what "'inside'-sweetness" means, but trust me, this wine is not a big, sticky, sloppy sweetie.

We only have a couple cases of this wine left.  When it's gone, we'll beg and plead for more, but we'll be lucky to extract any.  So wait at your own risk - or that unknown itch may remain unscratched.  And really, don't we all just want our itches scratched?

Price: $19.99

FALL FLASH EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS - Postponed

in over your headPlanning this education series while trying to figure out how much wine to order for our first-ever busy-holiday-during-a-global-credit-crisis-season is more than we can handle.

Add to that the web site we're trying to develop (and all the homework Jeff, our developer, keeps giving us)...we realize we need to postpone until January.

In the mean time, instead of education sessions, we'll be doing plain old tastings on Wednesdays from 5.30 - 7.30PM using our standard pick-a-wine at 5.15pm approach.
