The joy of winter
Space Planning Tips
Spring, 2010
Greetings!

Bill and Stella on Mt. Shaw

In spite of all the spectacular winter storm headlines for the Northeast this season, here below the foothills to the White Mountains in New Hampshire the deer got fat and the robins never flew away.

My cross-country skis stand vigil by the door lamenting  barren fields of rusting yellow grasses and the rattle of dried pods hung on brown stalks.

And if the unnatural tempo of the season gave the birds cause to rejoice in raucous song and put a spring in the step of some folks, this impotent gesture of  winter has left within me a vague discomfort of spirit. A yearning for unrealized potential.

Yet as green shoots pierce the earth seeking the light of the lengthening days, the unfulfilled promise of winter fades with the anticipation of renewal. And like it or not, the yard cries out to be raked!

Don't Get Fooled by Low-Ball Bids

It only makes sense to seek several bids when you are considering a remodel project. How else can you tell if if you are getting a fair price?

Right?

Well, not necessarily.

One of the methods a less than scrupulous remodeling contractor may use to make his price more appealing is often referred to as the "low ball bid." Here's how it works:

Your Organized Pantry
A pantry closet is the perfect place to store and organize bulk purchases of non-perishable food items and paper goods. The challenge is to fit a variety of products that come in so many sizes--cereal boxes, canned goods, baking supplies, paper towels and cases of beverages onto the available shelf space. You want a clear view of the items stored in your pantry, and you want everything within easy reach when you're busy trying to get a meal on the table. The goal is to maximize the space you have with efficient storage.

Often the shelves of builder installed pantry closets are too deep and are not adjustable, causing a tangled cluster of a mess! You can't find what you need and it becomes stressful to continually dig through the rubble of your shelves for every item you need to prepare a meal.

There are some simple solutions. With thoughtful planning and design, today's contemporary closet systems can easily accommodate all of your pantry goods, and save you time and money.

Consider these five tips to help your pantry flow better:
