Renovations
All of the streets around Beit Immanuel have been removed and only the dirt is left. Trucks and workers are moving constantly putting in new water, drain, electric and telephone
systems. It is a daily reminder that it is time for Beit Immanuel to be restored as well.
Beit Immanuel is a well-known Messianic center in Tel Aviv, Israel and around the world. It is home to our local Congregation, Children and Youth Ministries, the Guest House, Heritage Center, Art school, Humanitarian aid distribution and numerous youth and Messianic conferences, seminars and outreaches. We are all quite humbled by God's hand on this ministry and as we contemplate needed renovations we are encouraged by what the future holds.
We are praying, fasting and planning about designing a renovated Beit Immanuel facility to give priority of space to the unique ministries and calling of our local congregation, the history of Beit Immanuel and community surrounding of the facility.
Jaffa School for the Arts
Our Art school semester begins next week. We have 20-25 Israeli and International students including part-time, full-time and live-in (some are still registering). We also have 2 part time Israeli students from the neighborhood, non-believers. The average age of our students is 19 years old. These young people come here because they want to change the world for Yeshua!
News and Needs for our Staff
Pedro and Annu returned rested and they look great! Five minutes after Pedro walked in the gate a group showed up to hear his presentation! Can you believe they are having problems with another water leak in their apartment? Anyway we are so glad to have them back.
Our assistant pastor Aleksey and Alla had their third child, a baby girl names Li-el. Their second child Roni, who was born with critical mental deficiencies, is slowly developing with much patience and care.
Aleksey gives most of his time helping the needy people in the congregation. He visits them in the homes, prays with them and find ways to help practically. He is also encouraging, teaching and praying for the home group leaders that they will also be able to care for the people in their community. Aleksey helps in many ways with the youth and children. Last week we took a group of 12-13 year olds to learn about volunteering in the community to help with blind people, old people and in hospitals.
In order to continue serving in this way, we are asking you to consider sending a one time offering or regular support for Aleksey and his family.
David begins another semester of study in journalism this week. He is writing regularly for the Jerusalem Post and continues to pursue his goal of becoming a regular columnist in the Israeli press. We are still short about $3000 for this semester expenses. If you would like to contribute to David's studies please let me know.
Our son Joshua has been promoted to Officer in Charge of Operations in East Jerusalem. This week he was busy preparing security measures for the Arab villiages surrounding Jerusalem in preparation for the Muslim fast of Ramadan. In addition, the Jewish holidays are coming up at the end of September and this is always a time of tension in Israel and in Jerusalem in particular. It is an important time for all of us to be in prayer for this situation.
We would love you all so much and would love to hear from you,
Michaella Lazarus
