Beit Immanuel Prayer Letter
Greetings!

We have had some amazing weather this past week and it seems that all of Israel was out and about enjoying it to the full.

We just finished two weeks of Passover holidays.  Many beautiful afternoons our family sat on the beach watching the Tel Aviv Regatta. There were many races and classes of boats sailing. David and I, however, sat sipping our lemonade - writing.  Yesterday, in particular, was one of those lazy afternoons and we worked on an article for a newspaper.  There was a terrific breeze which made sitting in the sun actually enjoyable!
The Guest House is thriving and has been filled to capacity over the holidays.  We've added four large rooms since the Lazarus family vacated the top floor and moved into the Cottage at the bottom of the compound.  This was done for the sake of my legs. May 6th, I (Michaella) will have another hip replacement surgery for my other hip and would appreciate your prayers for this.

We are still short handed and in need of volunteers for the Guest House and would appreciate your prayers for this.
It's been a busy season for the Congregation.  In March we celerated Purim and the youth put on their own modern version the Scoll of Esther.  Then in April, Gerald Martin and Greg Mayo from Conerstone, USA gave a fantastic seminar for our home group leaders.

For Passover we took the whole congregation on a trip up to the Judean mountains. In May we'll be celebrating Israel's 60th Birthday on Independance Day with a congregational barbecue.  We will have two Bar Mitzvahs, as well and May 15-18 we're hosting a seminar for parents on how to raise our kids with God's grace.

The Baron's Cafe is up and running with "the best espresso in town."  We actually heard someone say this by chance on a street in old Jaffa!  Vassily and Yulia are in charge of this venture and keep the goodies stocked and and the coffee hot!  We thank our friends in New Zealand who gave us money for this machine some years ago.

The Heritage Center is thriving under Pedro's leadership. He calculated that over 3,000 Israelis visited last year, and this year the groups are getting larger.  Last week a member of Israel's Knesset came for a visit and especially asked for the Hebrew New Testament.
Jaffa Beach

Jaffa beach is 5 minutes from Beit Immanuel. It's a great time to come for a visit.

The Jaffa School of the Arts is thriving as well.  Giuseppe is doing a great job inspiring us all to greater artistic achievements!  The school put on a 70's party and a large group of Israelis showed up.

For our final end-of-the-year project we have decided to produce a dramatic/musical/multi-media production of the Yad b'Yad German-Israeli youth exchange project. Guiseppe has written an amazing script and we are preparing this for the 3 groups going this summer to Germany. The Mayor of Berlin is organizing a presentation of the production this summer in his city.
